I'm looking for a tablet in the $400 to $600 price range. Windows operating system, fast, lite weight and lots of memory.

Suggestions?

How is Windows 8 in a tablet? It sucks in a desk top.

I played with one, and it seems okay. I like the design. Real sleek.

It's the same OS. If you don't like it, you don't like it. But it doesn't suck, not by a long shot.

OP: Check out the Dell Venue Pro 11 line for a full-size win8.1 tablet that rocks. They have a number of models ranging from Intel Atom (z3775 + z3795) thru i5-4300y. You can also get from 2-8gb RAM, 64-256gb ssd, and a MicroSD expansion slot for expansion of up to another 128gb (Granted, a 128gb microSD will cost you ~$100).

Now, if you want to step down to the 8" line, the Venue Pro 8 at $199 is probably the best value in any tablet of any size. You bump down to an Intel Atom Z3740D and are stuck there. They all have 2GB RAM. The only options in the whole line is storage size. $200 for the 32GB.

The Asus Transformer Book t100 is a 10.1" tablet starting around $400; they've got two Atom processors to choose from, in addition to the internal SSD, you can actually get a 500gb HDD as well. It has a microsdxc slot as well. It has a proprietary dock with a USB port and DisplayPort output (can buy a $3-6 adapter and convert it to HDMI). The dock will run you $120 on NewEgg, but it's the best sub-$600 detachable notebook+keyboard option.

At this point, I leave you because I was just offered a trip to get ice cream. If it were me, I'd go Dell Venue Pro 8 all day, but I prefer 8" to 11" tablets. The Asus would actually probably top the 10.5" ones for me because of the dockable keyboard (yes, any USB keyboard would work on the Dell, but I particularly enjoy things that fit together the right way and would fold up more like a traditional laptop when it needed to be one. Your use may be different, in which case, the Dell can be upgraded to much higher specs than the Asus. It will always lack the ability for more internal storage, but I wouldn't personally necessarily want a 500gb HDD in a tablet, because no matter how careful I am with handheld devices, eventually I drop them. I'd probably spend the extra money on the microSD card if storage were an issue for me due to both performance and reliability.

They all have MS Office Home and Student, too, by the way. If there's some reason you don't like any of these, I'll try to dig up more about some of the others.

Good luck.

Surface Pro 3 has very good reviews but it's up around $1000. I think I will check the Nokia and it out and see which one I like the best.
