I've had a little lag on my G3 850, but once my T mobile version 851 comes in in a few days, a root and custom rom should help. Will sim unlock it and be using on ATT platform.

So if I'm going to buy an LG G3 before the free battery and charging cradle deal ends on 9/22, I should order the T-mobile version? I have AT&T for my service. Can you explain a little more why you're doing this? And how hard it'd be for a first time Android user to do? Thanks.

If Amazon is still doing their $99 deal, then it would be wiser to go with that than the free battery deal.

I just checked Amazon. It is $49 with upgrade.

But you pay $25/month ($40/mo vs $15/mo if I bring my own device...I'm on a 10gb family share plan) more when you're on contract. So for a 2 year contract, $25 x 24 months = $600 plus the original $49.99 = $649.99.

Can buy it without a service plan for $530 on amazon. I'm leaning towards doing that.

And if you do the AT&T next plan (12 or 18), you end up paying about $580 over the course of your monthly payments.

Its better than the g3 and note.

I'd avoid Samsung...

So there is a very obvious Samsung fanboy on this site who goes around in every thread down voting posts that bash Samsung. It is quite hilarious really. It is not enough that the person made a bad choice, but they have to justify their choice by down voting posts that paint Samsung in a negative light.

Why do you feel that way? Is it the price or do you feel like it's a better phone?

Because it's the best phone on the market (haven't tried the 6 or 6+ yet)?

If you're buying off contract it's an obvious no-brainer over all other phones since it's half the price

Okay, I'm getting the G3 and my wife wants the S5. What's so bad about Samsung? I honestly don't know. We're Apple queers right now.

Latest rumors suggest Google releasing 2 sized versions of the Nexus, a Nexus 5 2014 with a 5.2" display and a Nexus 6 with a 5.9" screen, while being loaded under the hood on a 1440p display. I'd wait for that and see.

quote:

Lion might replace Kitkat, a screenshot (available below) obtained in the GFXBench application by @emtleaks seems to indicate, further revealing that the next Nexus smartphone might be called Nexus 5 (2014) instead of Nexus 6 or Nexus X, as was previously reported.

The same alleged benchmark test reveals that Android Lion is actually Android 5.0, in line with a recent report regarding Google’s number scheme for Android L. The tests also suggest that the phone packs a 5.2-inch display with 2560 x 1440 resolution, 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 12-megapixel camera and 2-megapixel front-facing shooter.

What’s not clear is what company is making the handset for Google. So far, Motorola appears to be the chosen OEM to develop this year’s Nexus smartphone, and a report did indicate that two Nexus 6 models may come out, one featuring a 5.9-inch display and one packing a 5.2-inch screen, such as the Nexus 5 (2014) shown in the following screenshot.

I'm going to be looking into the G3 soon, but just waiting to see the Note 4 first (currently have Note 2). What is this 850/851 stuff?

Also, when I looked on TMob website, they were offering $24 off and a free case. Where is this free battery and charger deal?

TIA

850 is AT&T variant. 851 is T-mobile.

Free battery and charging cradle deal is on LG's website. It's open for phones purchased between 9/8 and 9/22. LINK

Got it, thanks. So it looks like if you order it for TMob you still get that discount I mentioned and the case + the extra battery and cradle

Damn, I was trying to hold out to check the Note 4, but that's some nice extras there. Not sure what to do

I did hear they were going to have a G3 with stylus possibly, not sure if true, but I actually use it a decent amount on my Note 2.

Yeah, I don't see why not.

I was trying to hold out to see what the next Nexus would offer, but I pulled the trigger and ordered the LG G3 last night!

The G3 Stylus, from what I've seen, is scaled back on specs.

quote:

Powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, the G3 Stylus offers a 5.5-inch 960x540-pixel screen, 8GB of storage space, a MicroSD slot, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a removable 3,000mAh battery, and 3G network compatibility. The phone will be available in black, white, and gold.
