all i require is that it lasts a day on heavy use. I charge every night anyway.
Yea, that really is enough, but wasn't the main thing I was pondering.

Look, don't be a smartass with me because you don't understand the multiple answers to your question that you've already gotten, yet keep asking the same dumb question.

Ok buddy.

Droid Maxx is the best phone on the market for user interface and battery imo

I love this phone. 3 days light use. 2 days normal use. And a little over a day with very heavy use.

I can't say enough good things about it.

Why are you laughing? Did you finally realize how ridiculously obvious the answer to your question is?

A battery can only hold so much charge per weight. Even though this "energy density" is steadily improving, it is not improving as fast as we are inventing new ways to use the juice. It's that fricking simple.

I think this is the key right here. It's not so much that battery life isn't improving, we're just using battery-powered devices to do more.

Battery life is a pretty tough problem. It's one of the main things holding back alternative fuels and electric cars, but even there look how far we've come. A Tesla model S can go 250 miles on one charge. Think about that. A battery is pushing a 2 ton vehicle 250 miles down the road. It's insane when you think about where we were a few years ago.

Thanks, but just in case you need further explanation, think about this...

Do you think your phone battery can crank up your car? No, but look at the size of your car battery. Now, how long do you think that battery will run your phone? I bet if you kept your phone plugged into your car lighter with the car off, you could probably use your phone for a week straight before the car battery runs dead. Do you want to carry around a battery that size everywhere?

I don't believe you could run down my Droid Maxx in a day if you tried.

Windows Phone Devices are very good on battery life. My mom has an HTC 8X and it's lasted over 4 days on a single charge once. She's mainly uses it for calling and light web browsing but still.

It all depends on use. At home on wifi I can browse around, play videos, etc for an hour and the battery life doesn't drop that much. Do the same on LTE or even 3G and it drops a good bit.

Standby time is already great, it is just that they make these devices that people want to actually use all the time that kills batteries. Just an example, but we went camping last Sunday night. I didn't have a way to charge my phone without plugging it into the car charger, and the one we have, you have to at least turn the ignition to accessory to get the port to power on. I had about 80% battery when we arrived at the site. The next afternoon, it was only down to 65%. All I did was snap a few pictures, check my email once or twice, and post a couple pics on instagram. The rest of the time it was in my pocket not being used. I can have 100% charge in the morning, and if I don't use it much all day still have around 70-80% left at night. iPhone 5C and I have wifi/bluetooth off, and brightness around 35%.

I have a note 3 and bought the hyperion batteries and haven't gotten a chance to use them. The factory battery last all day with extreme use.

If you aren't happy with the note 3 battery, there isn't a phone that you will be happy with

I use my note 3 all day and keep the screen on 100% brightness. Internet, streaming music, tethering to my laptop, etc. This is the first Android phone that I've been happy with the battery. The fact that battery technology is keeping up as good as it is, is impressive.

OP I know this isn't where you were going, just throwing it out there. A cell phone has more processing power than the Apollo computers.
