Anybody use one of these instead of the active sound bars? A soundbar style speaker that contains left, right, center channel inputs.

I've been pondering a soundbar vs component speakers for a while. I wanted the look of the sound bar (single streamlined component mounted directly beneath TV), but wanted to keep my receiver, mainly for video processing and switching. My rear surrounds are already mounted (future house in-ceiling) so no need to give that up as well. I'm not an audiophile nor will this be the dedicated theater room.

Started looking at LCR Soundbars. Doesn't seem to be that much info on them, and not very common. Anybody have any recommendations, comments, or anything else on them? Seemingly few options available, especially compared to typical soundbars. I have some Polk bookshelf and will be using Polk in-ceiling. Looks like the Polk option is discontinued.

That's basically the ONLY option out there it seems (my leading choice). This or the the Klipsch G-42.

Am I missing something on these things? I get people want the plug and play ability of a powered soundbar, but seems like these would get more support than they do.

Atlantic technology makes a hpas sound bar that's supposed to be badass.

After looking on Amazon, I see Dayton, Klipsch, Martin Logan, Niles, Def tech..... Make them

Because it's either you want a sound bar because you just want a clean look and don't care about sound staging at all or you do and go the AVR + separate speakers.

Not a lot of people want a sound bar and want to deal with an avr.

Why not get the slim separate LCR speakers and run an avr? Mount on the sides of the TV and underneath the TV.

I am running an AVR. No question about that. Living room TV above the mantle, means speakers take up mantle space or bookshelf, etc. It's what i currently have, and am exploring options.

I simply wanted the clean look above the mantle in my living room with a sound bar. I could wall mount speakers, either in-wall or on-wall, but it's added hassle, and unnecessary. A sound bar accomplishes my goals, but the compatibility with an AVR is an issue. It would work, but would rely on the HDMI from my AVR, and require AC power.

I find it hard to believe I'm the rare person who wants to run an AVR and a sound bar.

People do it but it's not as common as a plug and play sound bar. If people are going to run wires most just go with separate in wall/ceiling speakers. In the right room I don't see an issue with the good qualitiy passive sound bar.
