I've never owned a drone or had any urge to own one until I saw Lily.

I was looking at it earlier today. Really cool tech.

But really, the only interesting use i can think of wouldn't work. Trying to convince my wife she is imagining something circling the bed won't happen.

lol

I take lots of vacations and I just love the idea of me walking down the street with a drone following me.

Is that Lake Tahoe, then Truckee river, then the American river? I need to get outside more.

Bad arse. Wonder how they can get the battery to last longer?

As the company grows in size they will get better tech. Also some third party will create a battery pack for her, I'm 100% sure of that.

There will be tons of awesome videos made with that no doubt. I think that if/when they incorporated the tracking technology into some of the higher end drones which utilizes a mechanical gimble, it will be amazing.

I do wonder about a couple of the things about it though.

1. what is the technology used in that tracking disc? Trying to think of a signal that would allow for proximity detection etc.

2. What does it use for altimeter?

3. What does it use in regards to collision avoidance?

Biggest turn off the was the 20-minute flight time, but other than that I would agree this is the first time I've ever been interested in a drone.

Unfortunately, I don't do any of the shite the people in the video were doing.

Same thing everyone said about the GoPro when it first came out. Then people made battery packs for it. They will do the same for Lily.

My biggest worry is, other than grounded structures, I don't think she has much of an avoidance/collision prevention system.

But whatever, if you don't preorder you pay twice as much when she is available.

$499 if you preorder.

$999 when it becomes available to the public later this summer.

I'm confused, what's so special about this drone? The tracking stuff? Don't other drones like the DJI Phantom series have that?

Yeah I'll just make my brother buy it. He's obsessed with drones.

What does he do with them? Aren't there tougher FAA regulations coming? Lily wouldn't make the altitude that would interfere with flights, but just curious if he knows what laws may be being considered.

Granted I know nothing about drones, but I can't find anything in the DJI Phantom specs that suggests it has an autopilot/tracking feature?

ETA: I found it. Nevermind.

It is the absolute last feature on their page with just a blurb

Heck they need to hype that more.
