I'm looking to buy a new 55" TV. I play my PS4 often, so lag input and other aspects related to gaming are important to me.

Rtings.com speaks very highly of the Vizio E series. They gave it a great review and said it is great for gaming, however...the specs say "120 true motion", but they claim its actually a 60hz panel. After doing a little research, a lot of TV companies inflate their refresh rates.

With all that being said, would I be better off spending more for a true 120hz panel that has motion interpolation?

Console games have a fixed framerate of either 30 or 60 frames per second. 30 seems to be the more common frame rate due to hardware limitations. That's how many unique frames you'll see. Interpolation may give the illusion of smoother motion, but interpolation by nature introduces some amount of additional input lag that you may or may not find tolerable.

No. PC gaming is different but on console it will not help at all.

No HDTV will be good for gaming, especially when using a true motion setting. This makes the input lag worse.

Gaming mode or PC mode is the best thing for gaming on a TV bc it turns off all of the added features.

If input lag is really important, then you should get a monitor for gaming

120 is noticeably better. But anything more looks funny. I have had a couple different TV. My plasma with 600 he just looks strange. My 12p LCD is a very clear picture for fast moving video like sports and video games

my 240 hz tv is like 4 years old and looks like its a 3dtv, amazing for action movies and sports.

When i switched from tv to a 23 inch monitor, even on my xbox 360, my k/d ratio on shooters nearly doubled. 2ms refresh rate.

Thanks. I'm just torn between the Vizio E-55 and the Samsung J6200. Vizio is way cheaper and is supposedly better for gaming.

rtings.com indicates the samsung has 15ms higher input lag in gaming mode (29.5ms for the vizio and 44.5ms for the samsung), so the Vizio is better in that regard. By contrast, most monitors have input lag of around 10ms. Someone who is used to a monitor is likely to notice and perhaps have a hard time with 30+ms of input lag, depending on the game. But someone used to gaming on TVs probably wouldn't notice the difference between 30ms and 50ms. I'm sure the console's wireless controller adds another few negligible milliseconds as well. PC players using a mouse are by far the most sensitive to input lag, though.

You know it really isn't 600 Hz overall?

Your TV is split into 10 "subfields" and those are 60 Hz a piece. 10x60 = 600.

Kinda shady.

I think I'm going with the E series 65". I've pretty much ruled out the Samsung since the increase is price really doesn't amount to much, per Rtings.com. I think the 65" E would suit my living room better than the 55" M, as my couch is about 10 feet from my tv. Though the M is Vizio's mid-tier tv, I can't see any reviews that claim it's much better than the E.

At 10 feet away you will appreciate the 65.

I have a vizio 65 4k ultra high hd tv....hdmi port 5 on that tv has one of the fastest low lag times tvs ever...it's like .18 and yes it's an e series and yes it is near flawless as I play alot of fps gaming.....I haven't looked on the sites anymore since buying my tv but you can look this one up amd I promise it's the fastest one for vizio...one of the fastest of several different brand tvs...oh and for the record, the E series blows the M series out of the water...

My PS4 is connected to my Sony receiver. So just connect my receiver to hdmi 5? Are there any trade offs for the lower input lag of that port?

vizio doesn't make an e series 4k from what i can tell. maybe they did in past years?

also, the M series is consistently rated the best value 4k hdtv, so i doubt the "E series bloes the M series out of the water"

Check out the reviews on rtings.com. The E series is better for gaming and sports due to the better motion blur reduction and better input lag.

The E series is much better than the M, especially for the price. I have no need for a 4k TV. The same size M series is several hundred dollars more expensive and the only thing you get is 4k capability.

The M series for 2015 is now Vizios 4k TV. That is now the difference between E class and M class. The M went to 4k for 2015. There is no 4k E series. I have the last of the M series 1080 from 2014. Got a 50” several months ago from best buy. Open box display model. Paid half price for it. 300 bucks with a 5 year warranty. Its my outdoor kitchen TV.
