If so, how much does it cost?

If it's only a few tapes, Walmart.
If you have a bunch, a standalone converter. If you have a a bunch and a working vhs player you can buy an adapter with software to rip the tapes directly to your computer.
ETA:
BTW, been meaning to ask you if you play COL2 with the same username?

Honestly, I don't think I trust the retards at Walmart my family/childhood videos. I'd like to find a different place or person that does this so I don't have to buy the hardware/software.
No, I don't play COL2

is it a lot of tapes.. you really could just do it yourself if you already have a vcr.
not sure you have a vcr though. i just got a vcr recently so i could do it myself. my vcr has component cable hookups too and i have a pvr for my computer
all you would need is a computer pvr, either internally or externally. like a hauppauge or delgato.. and they have software to this.
if i was in baton rouge i would definitely consider doing it, but i'm in lafayette. how many tapes is it?
if you know anybody who is into gaming and streaming gaming.. like on twitch or youtube.. then they would have the capabilities.. they would just need a vcr.
btw this is just to get it digital.. like a mp4 file or whatnot.. they could even upload it directly to youtube or something.. if you wanted it on dvds.. then that would be another process.. but you could just get an external hard drive instead and store them all there..

I second this. Used this guy to convert a bunch of home movies. Easy to deal with and reasonably priced.
