Noticed a download was taking forever, and after pausing the DL, checking Speedtest and pinging Yahoo reminds me of the bad old days before DOCSIS 3 and channel bonding. I haven't seen this in years. It's not just my PC, either, it's my iPod Touch as well. The modem status pages all look great.

Yep, very slow here too. Also had some frequent outages last week and over the weekend.

Well, poop.

Speedtest to LAF is 113 ms ping, 2.6 Mbps DL, and 4.4 Mbps UL. Normal is 28 ms ping, 58 Mbps DL, 6.7 Mbps UL. This better be a one-off, or Spock is gonna be pissed!

Yep my ping is ridiculously high too.

Normally 100+/10+ with about a 20-30ms ping.

That sucks. I really hope we're not back to the over-subscribed, need-to-split-the-nodes crap that defined the Internet from 2000-2010.

It's slower than molasses in the north pole in Rayne at the moment.

Posted in the other thread, but I'm getting 1/15 and I pay for 100/10. Cox said it had something to do with me having my modem plugged into a strip, but when I told them it wasn't, they said they'd send out a technician.

Part of me wonders if this has anything to do with the cellular outages around TN and KY yesterday. I know how different the systems are, but....

US outages

LA outages

It's a shame how slow the communication is over there. Surely there have been multiple calls tonight?

Slow but steady wins the race. U-Verse unaffected by the Cox gremlins.

I had trouble last night as well. So it got me thinking, my Cox internet maximum speed is "Up to 50Mbps". What is the minimum they are obligated to provide? I read through all the terms and conditions, it's not mentioned. So I called into Cox support. Told them my download speed is 1.5Mbps asked what's going on? They blame my modem. I asked the manager what is the minimum speed Cox is required to provide. The answer she provided after digging through terms and asking around the office, she doesn't know, nor did anyone in the office. So they finally left me with "uhhh 1Mbps I think". Cox, and service providers in general, suck.

Mine is up to 53/14 now, but I'm still not happy with that

Just pinged 21ms and now 74/12. No idea what was going on last night, but as per Cox, everyone's modem was broken

Problems in northern Virginia as well. They recently doubled my speed under a promotion. I'm supposed to get 100/15 now. I can speed test and get up to 130 down and then it seems to bog down. Sure enough I speed test again and I get 12 down.

Cox's service has been very inconsistent lately.

Mine in WBR has been spotty as hell lately. I just haven't gotten the chance to call them.

Yes past couple nights have seemed slow, never ran a test but my Fire TV was buffering and periscope kept buffering at home as well.
