I was wondering if I was the only one.

It took just over 30 minutes. Frick 20 hours.

downloading via itunes prevented me from having to clear up 2 more GB of space on my phone.

anyone know if I send an audio message to someone with a non apple phone or someone who hasn't updated to iOS8 yet will they get it? My parents are usually slow about updating this stuff, so I don't know if I want to try it with them yet.

Rush Limbaugh says:

"After you download iOS 8 and you begin the setup process, at some point you're going to be given the option of signing into iCloud Drive. Don't do it yet. It's not meant to work properly until they release the new Mac operating system.

I don't want to get into a long convoluted explanation. But if you use iCloud to sync documents and other things between your phone and your computer you will lose that sync ability if you activate iCloud Drive today. You can wait on it. October 21st is when Yosemite is coming. You can wait 'til then. It's no big deal, but you can't reverse it if you activate it. You can't turn it off and go back. I mean, I could give you a bunch of tips, but that's just the biggie."

Let me know how that goes. I have a 4s. iOS 7 seems to work fine, but I know planned obsolescence is a thing, and it's imminent for the 4s.

I haven't played around with it a lot but seems to have no issues so far

Well, it updated fine, except it won't sync all of my music or all of my photos. All I get when I open my music app is a bunch of red squares surrounded by a circle next to the vast majority of my songs.

I keep pressing the sync button and toggling different settings, but nothing is working. Restored to a backup earlier and that didn't do anything when it all finished. I pressed the sync button again and now it just has been showing a progress bar in my iTunes for about 3 minutes saying "Waiting for changes to be applied". Awesome. I guess I'll try restoring to a different backup later.

My favorite features so far:

I love that in messages, when you want to send a picture, you scan scroll through your pictures right there in the message and not be taken out to the camera roll.

I'm digging answering texts without leaving where I am.

I like the home double click for recently contacted people up top.

Still poking around.

I'm also excited about the audio text feature. That will come in handy when I'm driving and I need to text people.

So normally before this, let's say I'm on my way to a friends house and he is wondering what my ETA is.

usually I would get my phone out and say 20min

now

with simply holding a button I can say. Hey I'm on I10 Ill be there in about 20 minuets.

Yeah, there was an app my wife and I used to use called HeyTell. I liked using voice texts but going into an app to do it just got old. I can see this being used constantly now that it is right there.

I don't text that much, but if you receive a text can you respond with audio without leaving the lock screen?

you had to do it through an app, now it is very easy to do.

We aren't saying this is a innovation in the phone market, rather we are excited it is built in the messaging app.

Yeah, you've been able to voice to text for years. This new thing is a mic symbol in the message app that records you and sends the voice message to the other person's messages.

looks the same.

I'll tell you tomorrow. Because I updated it in the middle of the day I charged phone, so I will see if it lasts most of the day tomorrow.

Another thing I stumbled across in iMessage, if you hit details when texting someone, there are several cool things. You can text that person your location with one tap and below that it has a tile layout of every picture and video you have sent or received with that person.

Finding lots of little stuff like this I haven't seen discussed anywhere
