If the sub is big enough everything will rattle. I'm planning to build a cabinet around subs...hope it works out in the end lol

If you have access id always go a receiver speaker sub route over a sonos playbar and the fixens for 5.1 from that. Get a connect and you can play all the music services through that setup.

Agree. I've got a bridge as well but it may not be necessary anymore

I installed 5 pairs of in-ceiling monoprice speakers for a friend back in January. Also installed their surface mount outdoor speakers, volume controls, and speaker selector. I was extremely impressed with the sound quality of all of the speakers. If I had to compare them to another, I'd say they closely resemble MTX Blueprint series.

I'm a dummy when it comes to speakers. If you were rating these on a dummy level from beginner, intermediate, to high end, what would these (monoprice) classify as far as overall sound quality is concerned?

Yeah because I have such a large attic on the other side of the spot where the tv is being mounted, I'll be able to hide ever single box from sight.

Since have access to the back of this wall, you can easily build enclosures for them if prefab ones are not available.

Would you use insulation or Polyfil in this application?

All I can think of is WHY? Why hide your speakers? I can't imagine not being able to adjust the position of my floor standers. Toe em in a bit, widen them, pull them out from the wall a bit more...even if they sounded equal, which lets be honest there's no damn way that's possible, why?

Because some people care about aesthetics and some care about sound quality above all else.

Neither is wrong.

It's possible to balance the two but there will always be compromise. If you purchase high quality in wall speakers they will have built in correction for the boundary affect. Is it perfect? No. Is it still perfectly adequate for the application? Absolutely.

If you want to listen to music critically you should have a 2 channel setup as Gaston suggested.

If you are building a home theater there is nothing wrong at all with quality in wall speakers. They acn sound fantastic.

Either will work. Personally I just sell Triad speakers which are designed for the application.

They don't come cheap although they do use Scandanavian (Seas and Scan-Speak) drivers which are widely regarded among the best speaker drivers made.

I don't have a choice but to use in-wall/in-ceiling speakers or a soundbar. I'm not hiding the speakers, I'm hiding the receiver, cable box, apple tv box, etc. so that all you see is the tv mounted on the wall. The speakers will be visible except for the sub which will be placed either in a corner or behind the cinema seating.

I simply can't use free standing speakers with the room configuration. People would be toppling them over as they walk from the other upstairs rooms to downstairs.
