I remember seeing on this site that the best time to purchase a new TV was around the Super bowl. I had intentions of doing that but of course I forgot. So now what's the best option? I'm about to move into a new house so I'm looking at some install plans as well... thinking about the Geek Squad because it's easy to get them. I'm not super sold on 4K because I don't wanna spend the extra money, but getting a smart TV is important. I'm gonna be looking at 65-70". Of course the house is wired with TV above the mantle and there's no other way to run Playstation cables or DVD, etc. At least not yet anyway.

If you could make your last TV purchase all overy again, what would you look for?

I prefer to buy local on big purchases like that, just in case something is wrong. It's easier/faster to return. Check out HHGreg too if you have one. They will negotiate on price a bit.

Do not buy a smart TV

Buy a TV similar to the one with smart capabilities and then buy a roku or fire TV

You'll save money and it works out so much better

Good advice. Also, the place you purchase the TV should not matter. Just find the one that you want and shop around for the best price.

BTW my TV needs are significantly light. I bought a 50" Panasonic 720 about 8 years ago and it's gotten my fam and I by all this time. But since we're making a big move, I wanna make sure I get something that would be able to last another 8-10 years. My rig right now includes a chromecast and a PS 3 and I can pretty much do anything I need to with them. I just would love the next purchase to be able to interface with my UVerse or consoles somehow wirelessly.

Not sure exactly where to even start :/
