If I but a monitor for my Mac Mini and the monitor has HDMI in, can the monitor double as a second TV during football season?

My plan would be to hook my wireless DirecTV mini client to it and use it to watch two games at once.

I would say yes it can serve as a second TV.

Yep and if you really need your fix you can plug your tv into the mac, fire up ESPN and watch 4 games on the TV and one on the mac at the same time.

Only thing you would need to consider is sound. You would either need a monitor with built in speakers or some other sort of powered speaker solution.

I recently did this. You can use something of this nature for sound (to run to a stereo): HDMI Audio splitter
