I think it is a good idea, however I am no app programmer / writer. What are my options to proceed and protect my rights to my idea?

You can also post a job for an iOS developer on your local Craigslist. You might get some hits there as well.

If you want something simple, you could try app inventor for Android. That is what I did with the jambalaya calculator app. You could post the job on rentacoder, getacoder or something like that and have an Indian do it for next to nothing. It really comes down to the complexity of the app and how much money you want to throw at it

Thanks. To achieve what I am picturing there could be moderate complexity.
Should legal agreements be created to use with hired programmers? Looks like the copyright office only protects the code which I wouldn't be writing.
