Looking to get a system for my house. My alarm company wanted $1200 for a 2 camera system which seemed expensive to me.
I'd probably want 3 or 4 cameras and would like the ability to monitor from my phone. Any suggestions for a reasonably priced system that would be easy to install myself?

If you can run wires and terminate them you could easily do it yourself. I'd look at Hikvision or something similar online. 4 channel setup either TVI or IP can be found for a few hundred bucks.

I just installed this one 2 weeks ago in residential.
Sam's Club
It was super easy to set up, came with 8 60' runs of cable with all connectors already on. The system is capable of running 16 cameras also. Cameras are infrared as well. Night vision was incredible (100' I believe, maybe more)
The picture quality is HD (1080p). We put apps on iPad, Macbook, iPhones, and Android with no hassle whatsoever.
Would HIGHLY recommend.
Edit:
Currently $379 for the entire system. and comes with 1 TB HDD. Even at full price ($599) this is a steal.
