Highspeed internet in rural area

I'll be moving soon to a rural area in MS where there are no DSL or cable options. I'm currently with AT&T for cell phone service and where I'm moving, I may get 1 bar of service. I know satellite is an option but it really isnt for what I'm going to need. I online game, so the latency is going to be a huge issue. I've used c-spire's hotspot there, but I'm connecting at around 1.5mbps. Are there any other options that I could get higher speeds with?

See if there's a company in your area that offers fixed wireless internet.

I doubt it. I live in the boonies and love it. Aside from my internet sucking. The local phone company ran 1,300 feet of line to reach my house, and from a location that is already slow. So my DSL ranges from very slow to useless. It's reached the point that I'm probably going to throw in the towel on that and get Hughes satellite. It's literally my only other option, and yes, I know the problems. It's worth it for me to be able to live where I do. You are right that it's a terrible option for online gaming, fortunately it's not something that I do.

I would look into a wireless modem with signal booster cradlepoint aer1600 ($500-$800) with either a Verizon or AT&T sim, depending on which provider has the best coverage in your area.
Pair that with an external antenna ($100-$200??) and you should be able to get 4-5 bars and 8-12/2 or so speed.

AT&T is offering a new rural fixed wireless internet service in some states presently and are supposed to expand over the next couple of years. You might check that for your area.

We use Rise broadband. I work from home and access vpn for work. I know if and when there is an outage. We have been pleased with it. Kiddo runs his X box, and I can stream the watch ESPN app to a tv outside.

I grew up in a rural area and HughesNet was our only option.
And its horrible, you had a daily download limit and if you went over that limit, your speed (which is already slow) was slowed down for 24hrs.
Online gaming.....dont even think about it.
My parents finally canceled it, and uses their hotspots on their phones to use the computers if they need to.

I had high hopes for powerline broadband for this very reason. Seems to have died.
