Also, if I flash a new rom, what is wiped and what stays?

Everything unless you do a dirty flash which isn't advised if you're switching between different ROMs.

You'll have to start from scratch if you wanna start off with a fresh new ROM

Not really. With everything backed up to Google, what does it matter?

I mean I could make a note of all my apps and then download them again, but for what? A slicker, faster interface and better battery life? I might just enjoy being new to android and wait for L to come out

download titanium backup and backup all apps+data to sd card. Clean wipe and install and new ROM. Once it's loaded, install titanium backup again and restore. Doesn't take that long.

I'm doing a twrp backup right now fro all data, system and boots. Should I delete this backup and do it through titanium or do I need to do a twrp backup and titanium backup?

ETA: Should I do a separate back up of apps and a backup of apps and system data?

So that's all that needs to happen?

I have a HTC backup everyday, is that the same?

I just watched a video is this the correct way?
Backup all user apps + system data
When restoring use:
Restore missing apps with data (if using different ROM)
Restore missing apps + all system data (if using exact same ROM)

What about Restore all apps with data?

I didn't even need titanium backup. Google restored everything for me.

I'm all done now. Unlocked, rooted, custom rom and a bunch of other cool stuff. Thanks eveyone. I'm sure I'll have more questions, but for now it just feels so awesome not being a part of the Darkside.

shite, even my boot animation is awesome. It's Newman's screen from jurassic Park with uh uh uh you didn't say the magic word.

Installed the Viper One rom and it's incredibly smooth and fast with good battery usage.

Used the blue printed circuit board theme in the Viper download hub and thought Tron Vader would make a good background. Only other customization I want to add is a death star icon to replace the middle app drawer icon. Might also download a "I'm your father" .mp4 as a ringtone for when my dad calls.

I installed liquid smooth today. Amazingly fast out the box. My only issue is the fm radio goes away

Hadn't notice that with Liquid Smooth. Without looking, I assume there is an FM Radio app available in the Play Store?

I'm having an issue installing Viper One. After selecting the file to to begin installation, the process begins as normal. The viper image appears on my phone as the initial setup is loading. It says finished and I have to select next to go to the next page. But, once I click next, it just takes me back to the initial recovery mode screen like nothing happened.

From watching YouTube videos, at that point I should start getting installation options to install, an option to wipe data if I want, enabling/disabling HTC Sence, etc... But none of that comes up.

There looks to be a new venom folder that has "settings" & "tools" options available, but when I select either of those options it just says no files found.

Suggestions or thoughts? Should I remove the viper one file I originally downloaded and just start again from scratch?

Edit: Nevermind. It must have just been the download (from PC and then saved on phone). I did a download of the file directly on my phone and that one is working.
