My brother upgraded his first generation' iPhone 6S to iOS 10.1 and it's effectively ruined his phone. It crashes daily, freezes, etc.

He's on a plan with my Mom and she has a free upgrade available... He wants/needs to get a iPhone 7+...

Problem is, there aren't any 7+'s available until AT LEAST December 5th. Here's the plan:

He get's the regular iPhone 7 and keeps it for ~6 weeks and after the 7+ is available, I take his standard 7, and he takes the 7+ once it's here.

What is the best way to accomplish this idea...? I don't want/need a 7+ and iOS 10.1 didn't frick my phone up nearly as bad..

So does he just get a standard 7, keep it for 6 weeks, and then take the 7+ when it's available and give me the 7?

I'm currently with T-Mobile and he's with AT&T... I'm desperate to get away from T-Mobile and back to AT&T...

I apologize for the confusion... a lot of moving parts in this plan.

Basically, if TL;DR?

What the best way for my brother to get a new iPhone (because his is bunk at the moment), when the 7+ isn't currently available and I can wait because I'm currently OK with my 6.

TIA

(preparing for the barrage of questions to clarify)

"Apple broke my 1 year old phone. I'll just buy another from them." This probably isn't really the case, but great logic anyway. Some people give up way too easy.

My SO has a 6 and ios10 runs just fine. You should let Apple take a look at that 6s.

I have a 6 and run 10 just fine too... but I just bought mine like 6 months ago... he's had his for over a year. I'm certain that it's an issue with the hardware of *his* model

Still bring it to the apple store. Maybe they'll replace it.

What would the reason be? How would we sell it to the Apple Store assholes?

Just tell them you upgraded and it ducjed the phone up and they should take care of it. As long as they can't find any proof it was jailbroken, it'll be good.

However, to facilitate what you want to do, you'll need to buy an unlocked 7 to use on AT&T and T-Mobile and use the upgrade for the 7+.

Just tell them what's happening.. No trickery. If the phone is truly as messed up as it sounds then either its a widespread problem that they know about or they can look at it and determine what the problem is.

I'm an Android fan boy but I don't understand why you're going through all of these hoops to exchange the phone without bringing it to apple.. Phones aren't supposed to go to shite in a year.

If he plans on getting the iPhone 7, I would suggest getting a Verizon iphone because it is a "world phone" which you can use it with any carrier, CDMA and GSM. The AT&T iphone 6 was the "world phone" that handled both bands.
