I just downloaded it and was messing with it for awhile. Seems alright so far nothing spectacular or all that different from the normal Gmail. I just hope it updates more consistently and sends me push notifications of email unlike the original Gmail app.

What do you mean by "push notifications?" I get notifications all the time on my iPhone from the gmail app when I get new email.

Gmail right now is sync based. It checks emails on a time interval I believe.
Push means you would get it in real time.

I like it so far, but I try to be near 0 on my inbox, so the initial rush of bundles didn't really bother me.

I get my emails as fast as it could matter on my phone. If it's sync based, my phone must sync every 15 seconds or so because my phone keeps up with my computer very well. I'm not sure who would really need to get emails faster than that.

There's an invite option when you click the new message button. I'm not sure if I got notified when it appeared.

Google is giving out invites today from 3-4PM Pacific time. You just have to send an email requesting an invite to inbox@google.com
