So I just purchased this watch through amazon and I can't tell if I need to have the Garmin software installed on my Mac to activate the watch or if the watch will work out of the box. I won't be able to download the software on deployment so trying to see if anyone has this and if you do does it require software to activate it initially?

Thanks!

It should come with a USB cable for charging and syncing to your computer. You can download Garmin Express to have it sync automatically or just go to Garmin Connect and download your data. That will also allow you to update firmware etc. It's extremely easy. The watch still should work perfectly fine out of the box.

I've had a vivosmart for about a year. The app has really come along way since I purchased it, however, it really sucks that you cant link it to facebook or something similar to add friends. The search function is about as great as the TD search.
