I'd say that a TV with an antenna receiving a free over the air signal, the way everyone in the US has been able to watch the game since it started before you were even born, is actually more free than watching it with a TV that requires an internet connection.

Although it is definitely cool that they streamed it free, especially since CBS wants to move to a paid subscription model.

I'm pretty sure the Superbowl has been on network television since its existence. It's always been free.

Good point. I guess since we catch the Nola network broadcasts 15mins off the coast I just assumed most people were covered.

You can watch any game streamed by CBS Sports for free. It's been like that for years.

They even have multiple camera angles, I'm amazed people even bother with the TV broadcast.

I'm with you man. I watched it streaming via the CBS Sports app on the AppleTV last night. It was pure HD the whole time without any buffering or delay or lag time. And that was on 2 TVs streaming it.

I was thoroughly pumped with my experience.

I have had cable for 28 years and local channels were part of the package. So I was paying to receive the free channels essentially, that is how cable works . It has been 28 years since I have had an antenna hooked into a television.

Yeah I live in a very rural area and can't pick up anything over the air. These streaming cbs games have been great.

I switched back and forth between my antenna and the stream a few times. The stream started out great. High quality, no buffering. Around halftime it would go into a highly pixelated screen for a few seconds, buffer, then come back to being clear. I switched over to antenna and it would be clear, then scramble for a few seconds. My CBS is like that sometimes, especially when there is rain or clouds. For some reason Fox and CBS are the only two that do that in Birmingham. I get great signal for NBC and ABC all the time. Which is great when it is bad weather and I really need to see the weather broadcasts.

I ended up just watching the stream for the rest of the game. Right near the end of the 4th quarter it did it again. I wonder if it has anything to do with the traffic streaming it at the time, seeing as how it was only halftime and near the end of the game that it happened.

The stream did seem to be about 30 seconds behind, which is typically what I see when using WatchESPN to stream a game.
