Do you think bands will ever make a resurgence?

In popularity and dominate the radio? I grew up listening to late nineties and early 2000's bands such as Linkin Park, blink 182, matchbox twenty, third eye blind, sugar ray, etc. I remember their songs actually being played on the "pop/top chart" stations that today are dominated by the likes of Chris Brown, Drake, Taylor Swift, and selena gomez... Not one band. Will bands/rock ever make a main stream comeback?

Probably would be even better if you posted it on the Music board.

In the past, I would have said yes, but now with all the different ways to discover new music, there are too many avenues for people to explore to check out bands they like.

Bands haven't really gone away, but the music industry much prefers to pick off the top talent and then promote that person and just pay session musicians to be the "band."

Bands cost more to support and almost inevitably have interpersonal issues that must constantly be massaged. In other words bigger pain in the arse and less profit.

This, it's one of the reasons the indie scene is so big these days.

There is also a new breed of radio stations popping up just for the style you are looking for. In Birmingham we actually have two of them now.
