Just a few quick screengrabs from today showing even the shittiest music apps have better support for smart speakers than YT music. Again: THIS ISN'T BY ACCIDENT. THIS IS NOT A TECHNICAL ISSUE. GOOGLE IS YOUR DADDY NOW AND DADDY DOESN'T THINK YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO ENJOY MUSIC ON ANYTHING BUT SHITTY GOOGLE PRODUCTS And USELESS TV STICKS. DOESN'T EVERYONE WANT TO ENJOY THEIR MUSIC ON FIRESTICKS ONLY??

Eta less than 3 months left before Google music dies.

Amazon Music

Pandora

Plex

Shitty Sirius thinks these are chromecasts but they're all still showing up at least.

But you're wrong. I pay for Google music now which includes YouTube.

Google is doing this on purpose. Don't run cover for them and claim it's a technical glitch.

Okay, this is the part where you use a different service that may better suit your needs. Apple Music is great. So is Spotify.

for android users?? maybe i should sell all my PCs and phones and start over so i can use apple music to play on my speakers.

can i upload my 50,000 personal album tracks? no, didn't think so. its ok because i'm sure spotify has my 200+ rare FAX CDs from the 1990s, rare wax-only releases from 4AD artists in the 1980s, hyperium & projekt label artists, my 1,000s of razormaid song remixes, ultra-rare jazz collection and they never get into pissing matches with artists and labels and stuff in your playlists just DISAPPEARS. *cough* prince *cough* metallica

i remember gathering together all the james bond movies in netflix in the early days of the service and getting all excited to watch them in chronological order only to find 50% of them went POOF before I could watch them. then of course there was the perennial 'hide and seek' where they came back..then went away..then came back again.

we as a society have learned nothing from how streaming services treat us as consumers.

the ability to supplement google's current 'may be available to you depending on your geographical location' music collection with a rock solid set of my own personal music was the killer feature of google music and they just fricking RUINED IT.

When I hit my cast button from YT Music it brings up my 2 Google Home devices, My 2 Rokus, and my Sony TV.

Sorry to mess up your "shite on Google" party, but yeah......

so you can cast your music to your TV screen and not speakers..except your tiny google voice devices.

guess you missed my screenshot above and didn't read what i actually wrote.

sorry you think you 'got me' by proving my point that google doesn't let you cast music to music devices but will let you listen to music through your TV speakers and voice dots all day long.

so yeah......my basement TCL roku is where i want to stream jazz and not the 75 sonos speakers around the house.

Youtube Music does indeed suck, but not for any connection issues. I can cast to everything in my house.

Here's why it sucks:
.Plays live versions of songs on occasion
.Plays shitty covers by artists not known for that cover
.Will play two songs in a row from same artist.
.Artist variety on a created station sucks compared to google play
.After awhile, it just picks some other artist to dominate a station you created with a totally different artist.

You said smart speaker and I would consider a Google Home just that...

Either way you come off as such a huge douche....

i cited similar issues with these types of things in the past (esp. about the live/different versions of songs you would expect) and tigerwise mocked me.

oh and if use the 'workaround' and go through my sonos app to get to YT music...? after eventually finding my way to my uploaded music (which is BURIED in YT music meaning they are paying lip service to the personal music upload and plan to kill it) it hangs up scrolling through my artists on "A". yes, that is correct. apparently i have too many artists for the sonos work-arond so i can't play any artist who's name begins with B-Z.

SAD.

if you have any doubt google is sunsetting the ability to upload your own music, consider they took away the desktop music manager app (gone! cant even log in now) and replaced it with 'drag your music into this browser window'

you ever try dragging 10s of thousands of tracks in a folder onto a browser window and expecting that to work?

within the first 50 albums YT music already rejected about 20 tracks...ones that i will point out uploaded to google music without any trouble.

so yeah, frick google. this is a clusterfrick and the 'new reality' is plex is the last hope for my personal music library and plex sucks for streaming music unless you're doing it on your local network.

no i didn't. i said 'google only plays with google music devices and randomly to TVs' and even posted screenshots for those who can't follow along and read. you simply didn't read or look at the pictures i posted.

i'm sorry do you have a personal vested interest in propping up YT music as something better than what it is?

you're deflecting because you think you 'got me' in your reply and realized you simply lacked reading comprehension of the actual issue i cited and didn't bother to look at the screengrabs pointing out the issue.

I have never used cast nor do I see a way to but that's because I'm a dinosaur.

I did see This articlemaybe covering the issue? But I'm sure more 'more compatible devices' just mean their devices.

I’m not covering for anyone lol

I pay for YouTube premium, which I believe includes YouTube music. It’s no good so I don’t use it. I’d rather pay for Spotify instead.

Just came here to say that you most definitely can sync local audio files onto your Spotify premium account.

Continue on though.

Local Files

Google and Sonos are suing each other. You already know this.

How do I not understand? You dismissed switching services by saying you can’t access your library of music through Spotify. Through the desktop app you can very clearly upload local files to be streamed through Spotify.

But continue to have a meltdown over the functionality of a $10 a month service.
