Is there such think as a completely wireless surround sound system? 4 speakers, woofer, sound bar. If so any recommendations?

If there is such a thing, it would be wildly impractical- you would constantly be recharging/changing 6 separate batteries. Also, you would be very hard-pressed to find a source that would transmit to 6, separate wireless devices who turn on and off at separate times- you'd likely be re-syncing it often as well.

Speakers and wireless modules both need power. The power can come from a small-gauged speaker wire from an amplifier or from a more traditional wall outlet, depending on the type of speaker.

Now, you can make parts of the system wireless. The list of ways this can be set up are so long that it's essentially impossible and unnecessary to try to cover in response to your original question. Why don't you tell us what exactly you would like to do and why. Room dimensions, distance of speaker from source, furniture in between, where the wall outlets are, how your attic/walls are wired/accessible, type of speaker you prefer, how you plan on controlling it, etc. You can't give too much detail.

I was going to reply, but I can't answer any better or really add anything.

Doc's answer is dead on.

It still needs power (amplification). I haven't seen a quality wireless speaker for this application ever and I've been doing this stuff a long time.

Does literally everyone in your business ask for surround sound? How on earth people associate that with "what I need" I have no idea. I guess it's good for y'all.

A friend just bought a pair of Dynaudio Evidence Platinums and a pair of Allnic M3000 MK2s to push them. Absolutely unreal gear.

I guess those're completely different folks than the ones who come in say...I want surround sound...give me the good shite.

You are more of a music listener. Most people are not.

Most people also cannot afford or don't want to spend that much money on gear.

If I'm understanding the question correctly about the closest thing you'll find is Sonos but that's really only a 3.1 type surround sound environment.

It has a Playbar @ 699$
a Sub that's also @ 399$ or something
and 2 Play:3 or 2 Play:1's for the Surround sound.

I really like Sonos but I just have 1 Play:5. I enjoy the simplicity of it but if you're an audiophile (most people only think they are), Sonos isn't the best sounding for true surround sound BUT it makes up for it in simplicity and wireless and such.

I listen to football games, movies, and music through my stereo. It has NOTHING to do with music vs movies, it's the WAF that's won out...people don't want large speakers positioned where they should be (away from the back wall) so they compromise and put multiple small ones out of the way. I'm not hating, I'm just wondering where, when and how it got so main streamed.

When it became possible to get good quality sound out of small speakers, and yes it is possible. Yes, the absolute BEST audio come from gear like you mention above, but most people don't want that.

For most people, cheap, decent sound is good enough, especially if it means they don't have to sacrifice looks.

Just how it is.

I do it at some level to. I LOVE audio, but I am not going to fill up the room with towers.

I don't do much residential work anymore. If I do it's distributed audio or dedicated theater. Obviously, in a dedicated theater surround sound is the proper application.

Dynaudio makes ridiculously good speakers. I'm not surprised at all that you were blown away by them.
