Got a new TV that doesn't have a TV tuner in it. Bought an external tuner and hooked it up to my antenna and it works great. However, I have a 25 foot wire running across the living room to the window to get reception for certain channels.

There's an old coax jack sitting in a perfect location to hide the cables inside the cabinet. Is there a way to trace the other end of the cable so I can hook up my antenna to it? For reference, When I plug in my tuner to it anyway, I pick up about 30% of the channels.

Yeah... unfortunately it's not really possible. I'd have to go through a cabinet, fireplace, other cabinet, wall, and then just sort of leave it dangling at the window. Now that I type this I realize I'd probably be better off just stuffing it out the back wall and into the backyard, but it's on the second floor.

Specific answer to your question:

Yes.

You may have seen phone techs use a tone generator and speaker-probe to identify unlabeled wires. One nickname for the equipment is also a model name: Fox and Hound

Yes depending on whether you have a place that is a junction.

I remember my Cox installer needing to use something like this to find my cable since nothing was labeled in the apartment connection box.

Basically you hook up one to the end of the cable and then try it on other potential ends and see when it makes a sound.

Look in the attic to find where the coax for cable tv comes into the house and goes to a splitter. You can then disconnect the coax from the in on the splitter and connect your antenna instead. Then your antenna will feed the entire house.

Home depot has the tools needed to trace coax.

I got one that will test the cables and help trace them.

Think it was like 30 bucks and has already paid for itself.
