Basic Durable Laptop for wife

Recommend something simple and basic but durable. She just needs it to type Word and Excel documents, and fool around on the Internet. Don't need a lot of storage. Looking for something cheap, under $500, because I'm sure my wife will find some way to frick it up.

We also have a Toshiba Satellite. I think it was around $400 from Amazon. Pretty happy with it.

Just FYI, Word and Excel ain't exactly cheap. I think Office 365 is like $7/month or $70/year. Can she get by with something free like LibreOffice?
