Thinking of switching to T-mobile for their 4 phones unlimited data plan for $150 and the bogo deal on the S7. Anyone switch from att to T-Mobile, and how is their service?

TMobile is similar to Sprint, as in you'll save a lot of money, but you get what you pay for.

Coverage sucks, or something else? I'm rarely outside of major urban areas.

Do a test drive and see how their network is where you'll be most of the time. I wanted to switch to T-Mobile but I didn't get any service at my house even though it's on their website as an LTE area.

I'm with T-Mobile and I love it. It is cheap and according to speedtest I usually get 25 to 30 down and 15 up as long as I'm in a major city. I do drop down to 3g sometimes outside cities though. It is nothing like Sprint. A friend of mine with Sprint was getting 7 down and 1 up standing right next to me. My girlfriend has AT&T and she gets about 18 and 10 in New Orleans and San Antonio. Do some research on how each performs in your area before making a decision. Speed test has a feature that tells you the average speeds they've recorded in different areas.

Also I'm not sure about AT&T but T-Mobile isn't a contract so you can try it and if you don't like anything just drop them.

They now offer Wi-Fi calling for Wi-Fi Calling-capable phones...so this should not be a problem now....

AT&T charges way too much for what they offer. T-Mobile is legit as long as you are in a town/city. Even on major highways they usually have LTE. I take full advantage of wifi calling though.

Nice, thanks for the reply guys.

I found this site Rootmetrics that actually test the signals of the different carriers and posts the results on a map, it is pretty helpful in determining if you will have coverage based on actual signal tests.

I could save some money by getting away from ATT, but I already have the microcell at my house and the 4G coverage is great. For the family plan, it's hard to beat.

Not even close on price, I'm getting 4 lines with unlimited data and 14Gb of tethering per line for $150/month. I had the 40Gb plan with ATT ($300) and would still go over occasionally and get extra charges. Add to that I'm getting a bogo deal on a S7 edge so I get 2, they waved $20/line sim charge, and I get:
2 FREE virtual reality gift packs, including the Samsung Gear VR and a 6-pack VR game bundle (a $150 value).
Samsung/T-Mobile EXCLUSIVE—Get an entire year of Netflix streaming (a $100+ value).

I don't factor in one-time deals when comparing services.

At what point does your data speed drop? I have 15GB total for 3 lines @$200 total so that actually sounds like a good deal depending on the limits.

I've never had an issue with T-Mobile and that includes lots of rural central Florida.

Data slows down after 10gb per line, but Netflix and other movie streaming services don't count against data, and tethering doesn't count towards 10 gb either.
