Alright, Tech Board gents. I am in the unenviable position of switching carriers -- and I need your advice.

I am currently on ATT but am looking at Verzion -- single line. I do not have directTV or ATT uverse at my house, so any promotions that offers does not help.

In terms of the plan, they pretty much offer the same thing a month: 85$ plus tax and you get unlimited 4G LTE before they start throttling. Verzion offers 15GB of hotspot, ATT ofers 10. According to the sales reps, Verizon's hot spot does NOT count toward the 22GB cut off, where as ATT's does. (Though hotspot isn't a huge need for me at the moment).

My question is: which service is better? I've had ATT for awhile and am generally not that upset about it. However, I had lived in Louisiana with it. Now I live in Dallas, so not sure of the coverage map.

TL;DR: Who provides better service: Verizon or ATT?

I’ve had both.

Verizon has better coverage.

ATT has better deals.

In Dallas, both networks are great. My experience in other, particularly rural, parts of Texas is that Verizon has much better coverage.

Verizon has much better service. I had AT&T for few years and couldn't get service in most places, even in cities. I switch to straight talk, which uses verizon towers and I got good service everywhere. So from there we went to verizon after a year or so.

I agree Verizon is better, but it's rare we've noticed a difference. AT&T and Verizon are considerably above everything else, IMO.

And there is the rare place where AT&T is good and Verizon is non-existent (parts of St. Croix, I found)

I had AT&T for a very long time. Switched to Verizon 5-6 years ago and never looked back. Part of my reason for switching was very spotty coverage in Houston, of all places. Used to drop calls a lot on AT&T. Never drop on Verizon.

Ended up going with Verizon. The hotspot differential sold me, also seems like Verizon is better in Texas at least

Doing the same, doesn't look like you can get much leverage from Verizon to switch from ATT.

Att is much better in TX. Corporate is in Dallas and the best coverage is TX. 5G is rolling out late Q4/Q1 in Texas that will give 1 gigabit wireless

I've had Verizon for 8 years. The service is usually very good. But I've mainly started because I'm grandfathered in on the old unlimited data plan (yes, they've tried very hard to kick me off or switch me to the newer one).

That’s what I was wondering... I have ATT and I pay $155 a month for one fricking line... does Verizon offer any incentive to switch to them?

Columbia, SC. ATT customer for 8 years, in the beginning, service weasn't as good as VZW, but it improved. The coverage area is not quite as large (VZW better in rural areas in SC), but ATT absolutely smokes VZW in speed in urban areas. Not even the same ballpark.

I would gladly go back to ATT, but my job provides my VZW phone. Also, the ability to use the internet while being on the phone is a nice feature (that VZW doesn't offer).

What the hell man?
$57 with Verizon after all fees and what not. I think its just 5GB of data, but if you're not at home on wifi, then get the hell off your phone and enjoy the outside world.

Have you just never looked at changing your plan over the years? Unless this is some business plan or something I'm positive you can get a better deal than that. I could get unlimited data with free HBO for 2 lines for $155.

You can change your plan to the unlimited data plan right now. It won't extend your contract either. My monthly bill is around $80/month now.
