I don't expect Samsung to put an Apple Music app on my TV, so I'm trying to figure out how to get Apple Music on my AV receiver without tying up an iphone or ipad. The TV and AV receiver both have a few other music apps, but I'm trying to move to Apple Music.

TV has a web browser, but that takes a while to switch to and operate.

The TV can see media on one of my laptops, but I want the streaming music as well. Any ideas?

TV: Samsung 8550
AV: Denon 3313

Im pretty sure its not out yet for apple tv. Or at least last time I checked mine it was not there. But think it was to come out soon if I remember correctly.

Apple TV is easiest way, you can buy an older model for like $50.....way better than smart TV anyways.

Is your laptop HDMI into the receiver?

Itunes radio is on apple TV, but you may be right...

In which case, iPod connected to wifi?

This is what I do and have no issues with it. But OP stated he did not want to tie up his devices playing music so streaming music directly from apple tv would be more ideal for him.

True

Apple Music is great, I enjoyed the free trial, I just can't justify $120/year for it

Yeah, I like Prime, but wish it had a little more content.

I've had some copyright issues with Apple Music going to certain devices. PlayFi for instance is one.

thanks to everyone for the replies!

answers to a few questions, and a few more

* laptop connected to TV by network, not HDMI
* I have a roku connected to A/V
* I've read only the new Apple TV has Apple Music and the interface is pretty bad
* I already have ROKU connected to the A/V, but there's plenty of room for an Apple TV
* iPod sounds like an idea, I'll look into that. Guess I'd have to connect it to the A/V though?

thanks again for your ideas
