My phone updated overnight to the new firmware, and I'm having a ton of issues thus far.

Incoming texts are not being received, outgoing texts are not being sent.

Severe sluggishness overall.

I get it, I'm 2 models behind now, but it was working like a champ with KitKat.

I've heard of a lot of issues with Lollipop updates between 5.0 and 5.1. Can you go back to KitKat?

Off topic I know, but Lollipop has crippled my HTC One M7. It's now a slow-moving battery hog.

I have been. I've tried many different things under setting but still have a lot of things I don't like. It's so frustrating that I'm considering going back to Iphone.

Mine is slower, freezes sometimes, uses battery much faster, and I hate the interface. I never had those problems before last week's update

I will be rooting this week when I get the time

I just went though the same thing with my G3. It was unusable for a couple of days. Clearing the app Cache made a world of difference. It is actually faster now and battery life is better than it was before lollipop.

I updated my G2 to lollipop last week and experienced similar issues. Battery life was horrendous and it took forever to charge. Numerous people had the same issue. What fixed it was to downgrade to the previous version, wipe the Davlik cache, do the update again and do a factory reset

I might work just to wipe the cache and do the factory reset

My G2 is running fine now

Is it common for a new flavor of Android to cripple older devices? It runs perfectly on my N6, but if the updates are so heavy-handed on 1 or 2-year-old devices I guess I should avoid M.

Boot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache, and restart your phone.

IF that doesnt solve your problems, try a factory reset.

Fwiw, Samsung updates are notoriously bad for any of the Galaxy phones. My S2 nearly broke because of the POS ICS update for that phone.
