I have been having a lot of fun with my cheap POS quadcopter. Even though the FPV never seems to work.

I decided to order a 250mm carbon fiber frame, some 2300kv motors, motor controllers, flight controllers and a power distribution board.
This is just a start and I wanted to see what $100 got me.

I still need the camera, video TX, Radio TX, Battery and antennae. I may also add a HD recording camera to the top. I may get goggles down the line, but mainly I will use the radio and lcd screen I have now.

Seems like a fun hobby and it's like virtual pod racing.

I'm not familiar with this but am interested in learning more about it. I saw a video a few weeks ago where they had a race in the Miami Dolphins stadium. Pretty awesome idea. I'll follow this thread.

I'll post stuff after I get it in, I'm trying to build it as cheap as possible, I figure $200ish without the First Person View goggles and without a new radio (going to start with one I have)

I do it. It really doesn't pay to go cheap. It's highly addictive and gets pretty expensive. I have built 4 now after buying a vortex for my first.

Cobra 2204 2300s with good esc like rotorgeeks is recommended.
My goggles are Fatshark dom hdv2.

Where are you? There are quite a few people in la flying.

I'm in Kenner.
I'm bummed I just lost my cheap $70 practice drone. I had it up really high and was doing dive bombs and trying to get video, when it just went off on it's own. I put up fliers for it, lol

It was on it's last leg. Crappy 3.2v gear driven prop set up.

I'm not going too cheap, just not going all out.
The next one will be better, want to ease into the hobby though.

I have been thinking about getting into it also. I have a pair of Dromida Ominus FPV and they are fun to fly for the money. The stock motors suck but the aftermarket ones are much better (MMW).

Check out the multigp website (free to join). There are a few clubs around. A new one in BR and I think 2 in NO and one in Laffy.

There is a race on 2/20 in BR I am going to check it out.

Good goggles and camera are a necessity to get into racing and it seems to me some of the practice you do flying without goggles may not help getting used to flying in FPV racing.

Rotorgeeks has some cool stuff and I am considering building an X (Krieger) but I need to learn to fly better first.

This is actually kind of cool, nerdy, but cool. Didn't know this even existed.
