I'm thinking about dropping DirecTV and going with Amazon Firestick. I've heard there are a lot of options with Firestick and it's only a one time payment. Compared to DirecTV, it seems like a much better option. How many of you have Firestick and what all does it entail?

Easy as hell to tweak. No need to have anything else IMO.

You still have to pay for streaming services or steal them.

It's not like you can buy a $60 firestick and your cable problems are solved.

I have a firestick and it is great but I would recommend getting the Fire Tv Box instead. Much faster

I'm about to install the classic NES emulators on my stick. Can't wait to play some classic NES with my bluetooth controller

Get fire tv instead for a little more money.

Where are you getting internet. Once you drop cable some internet providers charge for excess data usage. Streaming is a lot of data.

Still need something for live sports.

We really mainly watch Hulu and Netflix. We're paying $90 a month for DirecTV, which I feel is way too expensive, given that I mainly utilize it only during football season.

That's my other question, can you watch live football games through Firestick?

You have access to the ESPN app along with most major carriers

You can also load Kodi and view live sporting events via some add-ons

Most people get an HD antenna for local sports broadcasts as well
