Typically rural East Texas. Like I said, I check Google Earth/Google Maps first. Then I'll check Bing if Google isn't current. Every once and a while Bing will have the better map.
If neither works I'll download aerials and load them in ArcGIS, but that can be such a pain.

The new google maps has reduced the clutter and performance problems it was initially plagued with so the OP may like it now once he gets used to it.
I think what the other poster is referring to with Bing is the "birds eye view" which can be pretty good.

When I'm stalking someone I always check both street view and all 4 birds eye angles.
