I have used the classic version of google maps almost daily in my job for years. Now that Google is completing their objective of forcing a much shittier version of their maps site on everyone, I'm looking for a new site to use. Is there anything else out there besides mapquest? I would be using it for directions, locating airports, hotels, restaurants, etc.

You can still use the old version for a while longer >> Google Maps (old version)

It did, when the site was a fully functional website and not a mobile version of the website being forced on desktop users.

Sometimes I use Bing (Microsoft). Occasionally they have more recent aerials which is helpful for my job.

I guess I don't see what's so much shittier about it.

Neither do I except I still can't use pinch to zoom with my trackpad.

Scout (by Telenav) App for the iPhone is pretty good. A little cluttered but its much better at directions than Apple Maps. I tried Google Maps too and still rather Scout.

to the OP, Bing Maps looks a lot like the old version of google maps, but you cant view prices of hotel from travel sites in the list on the left.

it is faster and smoother than GMaps

Where are these areas you speak of? When we use images in my job we always go Google Maps because Bing is usually at least a year behind in images

This happens every time ANY widely-used software is updated.

You would be surprised..We use geospatial everyday, and Bing sometimes has a higher resolution area than Google

FTFY.

It doesn't matter what the changes are or their impact, any time software is updated enough for the user to notice, they initially dislike it. It's not what they're used to and require them to learn about it again, and that automatically means it's bad.

EDIT: I didn't see that Korkstand said the same exact thing two posts up until after.

What? This is silly. Sure, it took me ~2.5 seconds to find where to click to show traffic, but that was about it... And hasn't this version been out there for a while now?
