I didn't knock you, I was trying to talk you down. I had to have a phone right then. I almost fainted at the price but I had to have it.

Google reportedly dropping the Nexus brand name from its phones

quote:

Google’s newest smartphones won’t be Nexus devices after all. According to Android Central, Google is dropping the Nexus branding with its two upcoming, HTC-made smartphones. Instead, the company is expected to market the devices under a different name and to lean heavily on the Google brand in the process.

This news jibes with recent rumors surrounding the upcoming devices, codenamed "Marlin" and "Sailfish." Android Police reported earlier this month that Google may strip the Nexus name from the phones and replace it with a "G" logo. It’s unclear what direction the company will take, as it has spent years fashioning the Nexus brand as a hardware entity while Google has reserved its own name for software services. We do know the two devices will come in 5-inch and 5.5-inch screen sizes, representing a small downsize from the current 5X and 6P.

Downsizing the screen size once again, no front speakers, SD820 not the 821...I think I am out on the Nex-err, Google phones this year.

I'm pretty positive they will come with the 821. Question is, are you gonna stick with the 6p for another year? If not, what will you go with as far as android is concerned? To me, no other device is worth a shite besides the OP3. And it has nearly the same specs.

I'm going with the Google Marlin. I knew they were dropping the Nexus as evident by the leaks/rumors. I will run it for a while and if it doesn't impress me (and I miss my 6p) I'll just swap out with the wife. She's my phone whore for device trials.

The 6P is 5.7". That is about the perfect middle ground after the big arse 5.98" 6 that was just too big for most.

6P is a perfect size.

So I will stick with it until I have a better 5.7"+ option.

Probably going to be a non stock phone.

With the new branding, they are most likely going to stick with size determined by the market unless they decide to add a stylus to compete with the note.

Probably will be. OnePlus or LG.

Hell, may import a Huawei next year.

LG V20 will get a hard look too, reveal Sept 6th.

Still holding onto the Nexus 6, frick it. With the flood, I'm using disposable income on rebuilding/rebuying, so the Nexus 6 will end up being a 3-year phone for me. It's a shame to see the front speakers go, along with wireless charging I'm sure, and downsizing the screen. Google can do odd things sometimes.

Sorry to hear that man. Hope y'all can pull through and get some assistance in rebuilding. Insurance/FEMA have not been giving much to those in need.

We didn't have flood insurance but got FEMA assistance. It's just enough to get the house back in order because we are doing everything ourselves -- hanging/floating drywall, insulation, baseboards, doors, flooring, painting, etc.

I, for one, am excited for smaller phones. I think the whole "huge phone" craze got too excessive. I'm excited for the Sailfish and a 5" screen.

+1

the LG G3 has been good to me (for the most part), but I wish it were closer to 5". not a huge fan of phones when they are more than 5.2"
