WOW, Gyasi Zardes is a good player, but can he not receive a pass?

I really believe Zardes could be a difference maker for us. He was in key scoring positions, but how in the world is his first touch sooo bad?

Is there not anyone on the world who can help him correct this? I mean, frick he is bad at taking a pass.

I KNOW this is old news, but i still can't believe he is that bad.

the thing is... every once in a while he'll take this incredible first touch by accident and I cheer like we just netted one. Then its right back to rally killer Zardes.

Zardes is the player that I, for the longest time, thought Altidore to be. A guy who was just so much more physically gifted than everyone else in our pool that no one cared that he couldnt play soccer.

Then I started to realize Jozy had some skills, or Jozy started to get better.

If Zardes was shorter and slower, you would put him in goal on your rec league team.

Are you 12 and off of school for the summer? It seems like you have something stupid to say every time someone comes to the "soccer board" to talk about "soccer"? just wondering, let us know when you get a chance.

That field goal last night would've been good from 40+

Zardes is linked to the Turkish league. Some people see this as a bad move, but with his skills needing to be refined, this could be a good thing for the next 2-3 years.

He works hard, tracks back defensively, but his touch isn't subpar and he lacks great vision in the final third.

He is an engine though...and I respect him for hustling his arse off all game.

To be fair, we have guys that grind it out for 90 minutes...it's honestly what makes the US a thorn in team's sides. Jones, Bradley, Bedoya, Zardes are guys that bust arse.

Jones' second goal was the definition of his career...he presses high, makes a slide tackle to create the counter, gets up and makes a run, and puts it in the far corner...it was absolutely beautiful and a testament to his will more than anything else.

I hate to say it but he is exactly what was wrong with youth development in America for so many years. He was the player as a kid who was bigger and faster than everyone as a kid so coaches just stuck him up top and would just boot the ball to him while he out ran everyone and scored. Thus kids like this for the most part develope nothing else to their game. Touch is something that is natural but as a kid if you work hard at it you will eventually have an average one. His looks like it neglected until he became a pro.

I think zardes needs to see the field for us, but he would be lethal with a first touch.
