I'd obviously rather we win than lose, but I can't say I'm really rooting for us. I just don't care enough. If we pull off an upset and make the championship game, I still might not bother watching.

I pull for the USA wholeheartedly.

But by pulling for a soccer team, I'm effectively being anti-American

More World Cup tickets were sold in the U.S. — more than 154,000 — than in any country outside Brazil.

Not normal, I'm like 3/4 German and both grandparents on my dads side were born in Germany....I like them but would never root for them over the USA, that's just dumb

I got a quarter French, Italian, Dutch and German in me so I pull for the USA but then when they lose I pull for whichever of the four I like.

If you don't root for America in the Olympics / World Cup then I assume you wouldn't root for America during a World War. GTFO of our country

Ya, I was born in England and if I was born a year earlier would have dual citizenship (motherfrick). I like to see England do ok but don't really care.

Same thing with Poland, since my grandfather was 100% straight Pole named Zigmont Lastnameski.

USA all the way.

I have a friend who was born on like a US base in Germany to American parents. He lived there until he was 7, and when his family moved back to America, he never denounced his German citizenship, so he is not an American citizen.

He refers to Germany as "us" and the USA as '"y'all."

You know, despite having zero german blood whatsoever. I guess he is a German citizen, though. Still fricking stupid.

Pretty sure he is a US citizen since he has American parents, unless they went through paperwork to not make him a citizen.

Kind of strange that he identifies more with Germany than the US, but at least he has somewhat of a case being born there and spending 7 years of his life. Far more than the assclown that the OP was talking about

Does he at least speak decent German?
