What makes Celtic a world renowned club?

They play in a shite league, I can't name a single player on their team, and they don't win European trophies.
Before I got into soccer, I could name no more than 10 clubs and Celtic would have been one of them. I assumed they were a world powerhouse. Is their rivalry with Rangers the only thing that makes them relevant? There are other teams in other countries that dominate domestically that aren't as big.

What. The. Hell. Are. You. Blabbering. About? Celtic is not a world renowned club. They are shite.

I meant that they are very well known. They're a big name

As much as I despise Celtic. This post is shite. They have a massive following around the world.
They were the first team from Britain to win Europe.
Rangers are still the most successful club in Scotland and they are the only two clubs to win the first division since SAF managed Aberdeen many many years ago.

I don't think you understand my post. I know they have a massive following. I'm asking why because they suck.

Same reason Tennessee still has a cult following in football. They have history and have beaten many great teams in europe. They also haven't eaten shite like Leeds and Nottingham Forest so their tradition and historical prestige has remained in tact

B/c over their history they have been very successful.
Before the explosion of the EPL, the Scottish teams held their own in Europe. Throw in the fact every catholic Irish person in Ireland and Scotland pretty much pulls for them. Along with expats and Irish Americans.

Ease off the accelerator, pal. Celtic is still well-known, at least among the English speaking world.

These past two years, Aberdeen has gotten close to challenging for the title. But sadly every year towards the end of the season, they start dropping points away from home and even lose to some crap teams. Quite frustrating as I'm not sure how much better the team will be able to improve with current ownership and support.

This is much more than a "throw in". It's a huge deal.

Was coming to ask about this. Wasn't Celtic basically the team of choice for republicans?

What kind of republicans? Irish? Americans?
Celtic started as a soup-kitchen and blossomed.

This is why everyone argued that it's idiotic for Celtic supporters to cheer the Ranger's demise. The only thing keeping their league in the spotlight and thus earning more money and keeping good players was their rivalry.
So true. I followed those matches and tried to watch even if possible.
I haven't even checked the table since Rangers imploded.
