But the Jones sending off is a 100% red card Ask anyone who played the game you can’t tackle over the ball like that into someone It’s dangerous as frick, especially doing it studs up

“Tackle over the ball”

Literally every challenge on the ball is considered dangerous now apparently

Well he took a risk lunging at the ball leaning backward and it didn’t work out for him

He lost control and tackled over the ball studs up into the opposing players leg

It’s always been a dangerous challenge, once he lost control and tackled over the ball anything can happen. Sucks for him but that’s usually a sending off.

I agree what you are saying but I said 50/50 red as I watched a Sassuolo match last week or the week before and Berardi did the same thing and VAR kept it a yellow. Eyes of the beholder (referee).

I played the game, frick outta here with that. No intent, he didn’t go in studs showing. He goes in with his instep, hits the ball, his momentum carried his foot over the ball, and made contact. What’s Jones supposed to do? Not challenge at all? Try to halt physics?

Then you know intent doesn’t matter……

If you clatter someone dangerously and don’t mean too you can still get sent off

Well he took a long stab into a challenge while leaning back

If you played you know damn well that’s not how you tackle and you go in off balance and don’t have control of what could happen next

It’s a risk he took and he ends up tackling over the ball

Also just because you touch the ball doesn’t mean it’s not a foul

It’s a shite situation but it’s a red

Everyone is letting their fandom clout their judgement or just don’t know the rules

Do I think he meant to go studs up over the ball? No

But that doesn’t matter bc he ends up doing it

Ah the beacon of neutrality

I will 100% admit I’m biased, but you’re off your rocker if you think that’s 100% a red

Tackle over the ball gets considered dangerous play

Did he mean it ? No

But he lost control with how he went into the tackle once you lose control it can be considered dangerous play with his studs being up and tackling on the ankle

I disagree with the call, but okay its subjective... lotta folks/pundits didnt agree with it either.. Id be more okay if it was given by the ref... the thing I didnt like was the ref going to the VAR screen and the video was already at the end of the play...

Again, those results go both ways all the time and I can live with it..

Casemiro got sent off for the same shite last year, tackling over the ball that led into the other players leg

Might not like the call but it’s the correct call

Whatever happened to the good ol days when Carra could slice through Nani's leg and only get a yellow... games gone!

This is what Gary Neville said about the Jones red:

Neville added: "It looks bad but his foot just slips off the top of the ball - that is not a red card for me. He has gone in genuinely. My initial reaction as an ex-player is that isn't a player looking to do the opposition player. If you see the end part in slow motion, you will think red card, but you have to look at the whole thing."

Not reds because “incidental contact while playing the ball”

I thought Skipp should’ve gotten sent off for that foul. In the same game, Jota also put his studs into Skipps temple with no call, so we could play this game of past fouls forever

…I have no idea who that player is in the 2nd picture though. Don’t remember that one.

It’s not meant to be a “we’re constantly screwed”

More just the whole “it’s 100% a red” is bullshite IMO

Moral of the story, English refs are awful and inconsistent

To your point... same match, but this actually did cause injury (potentially serious from early reports)

Udogie on Gakpo

edit: for the record, like Jones' tackle, I wouldn't give a red for that either... but if we're being consistent..

Both should have been red

Bad refereeing in those incidents

Like I said Casemiro got sent off for the same shite you just posted

Most LFC fans agreed he should have been sent off for that, but studs to the head is different than essentially slipping on the ball causing studs to go into someone’s ankle.

That was Kane on Robertson and only reason Kane wasn’t sent off for it is because of who he is and it was early in the game.

Once again, I have no idea who that is.
Must’ve not played for Spurs much.
