This is Ives' projected lineup.

——————————Eddie Johnson——————————

Fabian Johnson———–Clint Dempsey———–Landon Donovan

——————Jermaine Jones—-Kyle Beckerman——————

DaMarcus Beasley———————————-Michael Parkhurst

————-Clarence Goodson———Omar Gonzalez—————-

——————————–Tim Howard——————————-

If we play Jones and Beckerman together and expect to have any offensive production, especially with Johnson up top, I'm going to laugh/cry.

I think we should replace Beasley with Johnson, move LD to the left, start Bedoya on the right, and put AJ in up top. Start Mix over Beckerman.

Exactly what I said, except for the Mix over Beckerman part. That's a recipe for disaster IMO, as I don't think you could rely on either one to stay home in front of the defense. Jones would have to be THE defensive mid, and this game's too important to be relying on Jones to not try to do too much.

Jones will be eager to prove he's better than he showed against CR (which he is), and in Bradley's absence, he's the one I trust most to supply offense from that position while not being overwhelmed by Mexico on a big stage. Beckerman can be relied on to be Beckerman, which we need right now IMO..

I would rather have Mix or Kleijstan start over Beckerman. Put FJ at LB, LD on the left and Zusi on the right. Start AJ up top. Only put in GAM if we need a header late.

I would also start Guzan.

I think Jones and Beckerman have started together in the past. If I recall correctly, it was an offensive disaster. Neither one know how to do through balls or move the ball forward in any way. It's like their Y button is broken.

Orozco's going to start on the right.

I'd swap Guzan for Howard (won't happen) and Bacon for Beasley (move Fab back, Cakes left, Zusi right, Deuce central and Bacon up top).

And it's a bit of a pipe dream, but Mixx or Sacha for Beckerdreads.

Literally suggested this exact lineup to a friend of mine after the game ended. I will be furious if beckerman, jones, beasley, and orozco all start. That's a recipe for disaster. It's kind of inconceivable that johannsson would start so early in his tenure as a USMNTer, but I would love it.

Sacha wasn't called in.

Jones can.

I want Beckeman sitting in front of our center backs. Jermaine Jones can't be trusted defensively in the absence of Michael Bradley.

He hasn't been able to for us.

ETA: He had the most turnovers on our team against CR.

We have players on stand-by.

I have a feeling that the lineup we see tuesday will infuriate me almost as much as the one against ghana in the last world cup. Since losing this game doesn't seal our fate in wCQ, I'd rather put as many offensive guys on the field as possible to take it to them. And absolutely no beckerman

If Beckerman and Jones are our two DCMs, then I will be shocked if we score more than one.

I personally wish that mix was the guy definitely penciled in to start in the midfield over jones. I actually wouldn't hate him with beckerman now that I think of it. They've played together in the goldcup right?

I am aware. He had an abysmal first half. A lot of that was due to trying to do things like sombrero people and hit 60 yard diagonal balls in a crowded midfield. However, when we were able to advance the ball centrally, he was generally responsible.

Seeing Mix paired with Jermaine Jones with Donovan or Dempsey ahead of them (who aren't going to contribute defensively) against Mexico is pretty low on my list of things to do.

You guys are high as a kite (pun somewhat not intended) if you don't think Klinsmann has been preparing Beckerman for THIS EXACT GAME for the last two years.

If they aren't, I'd be shocked if we don't concede at least two.

I think our best chance of winning would be to score as many goals as possible. I just don't think our defense will be that good. May as well put as much offensive fire power out there as possible. Especially since we're playing at home.

Right, that was Corona, Goodson, Davis and Torres. They were called in on Saturday and are with the team in Columbus now.

I was surprised to not see Beckerman subbing Bradley Friday. Beckerman's certainly no world beater but I like him a bit more than Cameron if it's a straight out sub for Bradley. Cameron probably, to me, fits better in midfield beside Bradley.
