Well that's clearly not right.

3 of the top 5 from Spain surprised me a bit.
More surprising, 2 of the top 8 are Portuguese.

edit: Never mind. I have no explanation for why Real Madrid is ranked ahead of Barcelona. Maybe they have played against tougher competition in Europe or something. That's the only thing I can think of.

Worst list ever. Napoli and inter over Roma??? Inter hasnt been relevant the past 5 years. Schalke over leverkusen, lulz. And basel?? They can frick off

This is the UEFA coefficient list. Has nothing to do with how good teams are now but simply how many points following the UEFA system they have scored in Europe over the past five seasons.

Man Chelsea really owns England.

How the frick is United on there? They didn't play in anything UEFA related this past year. If you miss BOTH competitions for one season that should make you drop out of any ranking system. I could understand if they made Europa and made a bit of a run, but missing out totally and still being that high is ridiculous. UEFA gonna UEFA though.

This. We did miss out this year, but to answer McCaigBro69's question, remember we've also been in the CL the other four years and to a CL final in one of those years. I imagine that helped.

Unlike City United gets out the group stages and doesn't get knocked out in the last 16

If you ever played Football Manager, you'd understand how those rankings work (sort of).

Ah, for some reason I was thinking that was longer than five years. That definitely helps. I guess missing both tournaments totally just isn't a big penalty on the scoring than success.
I personally think failure to be consistent with the spending power most of these clubs have should be weighted more heavily than success, but that's me.

Zenit ahead of City, Milan, Inter, Napoli, and Tottenham

It doesn't help that City's grouping has been ridiculously hard forcing them to play Bayern and Barca the last three years in the group of 16 instead of Olympiakos.
That isn't United's fault, because they were winning their groups and you can't take that away from them, that was just a problem with the way UEFA did the pots which was total asinine.
Posted on 5/21/15 at 12:35 pm to McCaigBro69
Well it's based City's poor performances in both European tournaments

You think City should just get to vault ahead to Pot 1 just because they spent a lot of money despite have zero European pedigree?
