We have a problem with who we are putting on the field to start the game.

When you announce a starting XI and there is a collective *sigh* from Spurs fans all over the world, YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING WRONG.

Rose, Bentaleb, Alli, and Townsend need to be playing, and most likely starting, these games.

Also, Vert should start getting subbed if he continuously plays like shite. His defending is lackadaisical at best, and I'm downright tired of seeing it lead to points for the opposition.

I like Poch a lot, but he isn't very transparent with his decisions and I think it is starting to make his actions questionable and everyone else uneasy.

But it's all good lads. WE GOT THIS!

I cannot seem to wrap my mind around why we do not play Dembele in the CDM role. He is a huge footballer with a ton of force, but also skill and great technical ability. He also makes good runs forward and normally puts the ball into good space.

Earlier today I noticed him playing under Walker quite a few times. Every time he did this and got the ball, it felt like he was drawing LCFC midfielders and creating more space in front of the ball.

His style of play is much more like a Matic and Yaya, than a winger.

It just seems too obvious.

Even if by the grace of the BPL transfer gods we land Wanyama, I would want both of them starting in the CDM roles right now. Dier doesn't understand midfield space and where to be. Bentaleb is a wild card right now. Mason is just too small and looks like every challenge he makes is about to break his legs. Alli is essentially an unknown right now.

Anyone want to add to this or call me an idiot? I'm just drunk right now playing Halo and need to discuss some Spurs shite.

Dembele has been a really lazy and unhappy player the last few years. There were stories that coaches motivated him by telling him if he was good enough he could go play for Barça. He just didn't give a frick, and didn't play forward balls.

How did Lloris look?

Multiple edits I know, stuck in the shitty mountains.

Yeah he had his attitude issues, but that seems to be a non-problem right now. I just think we need more pace up front than he provides, but he is also playing really well right now.

I agree. Poch needs to recognize that he clearly gives a frick right now. But I think this has been the first time it's been clear. Dude has been unreliable for a while. Someone who you can't trust to build your team around.

I'm a huge Dembele fan by the way. I may have to bring back my old sig with him in it if I can find it.

Lloris played well, but Vertonghen yelled at him for no reason (it was a ball that Jan should have had), and Hugo ripped into him. And Hugo was pissed about the quick goal after we scored and said so in the post game. I think he is finally getting fed up with the shite he has to deal with. Unless we really get turned around and start playing well, I expect Lloris to be gone after this year. His body language finally matches how I would have expected it to be for three years.

I just hope Lloris doesn't go to PSG. I don't think he will because they just signed Trapp, but the fricking PSG fans in France (and DS) are obnoxious.

I don't get the Davies for Rose move so far....and I've never been the biggest fan of Danny but he played well last season. As far as Bentaleb and Townsend go, I'm pretty indifferent....but I wouldn't be opposed to putting Townsend in over Lamela, at least he'd have some pace. I just want to know why we have been so quiet on the transfer front when it's completely obvious we need help. Have Levy and the board tightened the purse strings? Does Poch not want to buy anyone else (I mean, all his Southampton guys are in Liverpool now)? We need help in the midfield and up top...maybe even a winger too. I'm skeptical of the N'jie signing. But it seems like Poch wants nothing but young players on the squad.

Poch has been saying he wants to bring in another true striker. We are making bids for Saido Berahino, and it is looking more and more like a done deal. Berahino didn't even make the team sheet for West Brom today against Chelsea, and the reason was he wasn't in the " right frame of mind".

We have also been linked with Victor Wanyama of Southampton recently. There has been a LARGE rumour that he has handed the front office a transfer request in the midst of them trying to sign him on a contract extension. It was well known last year he was unhappy at the club, and he has explicitly stated before that he enjoyed his football under Poch the most.

I think we have to move Dembele to CDM. He is playing too well not to start him right now, but he just isn't an attacking midfielder/winger.

I think we have some REALLY AMAZING players right now that aren't being given the time, space, and position that is suited for their advancement. If we can sort it all out we could be playing "the beautiful game" instead of this Spursy fricking mess of football we've been seeing.

Amen. I think I will be watching a lot of City games in addition to Spurs so that I don't forget why I love this game. The give and go. We should use it. Also, they dummy so well. Our attacking players just show no creativity. It's why I like Alli. He does, even if he's very young.

Agreed. I think he actually has more superstar potential than Bentaleb if I'm being honest. I mean who in tf makes a debut for a team against Real Madrid and sits there just trying to tease them. He had like 3 megs on their players and attempted plenty more. He is a cheeky little bastard with a stupid amount of confidence. Which, hilariously, leads to superstardom quite often.

If we somehow got Wanyama and Berahino I would be ecstatic.

It's obvious something needs to change it's SO frustrating watching them pass the ball square and backwards with no creativity. Leicester just sat 11 behind the ball then countered. We can't break down teams at all and every team knows it.

You're very right. Adding Berahino and Wanyama would help tremendously, but I still don't think it is the personnel problem everyone is screaming about.

(This perspective is obviously from outside of the club but...)

We don't seem to be fielding our best starting XI week in and week out, we are playing too many players outside of their natural positions, and we have little depth in some areas.

Depth isn't just good for Europa/Cup games and injuries, but it is also good for them to push the starters to play their very best or get subbed.

We have to fix the problems on the inside first and foremost.

Adding Wanyama won't do this. He's great at what he does, but that's not it.

If you keep reading my other posts I explicitly state the opposite. We have to fix the problems on the inside.

We have, what is essentially, a brand new starting XI from 2 years ago.

We are also very young. Our players have to start trusting each other and forming relationships on the field (i.e. I dip, you dive). Bringing on more talented players is how we push our development further. As is true for every big club.

I remember when Sherwood took over, he played Paulinho at the 10 in maybe his second game managing. He did it because Paulinho is the type to make very aggressive passes. If you watch Manchester City play, they don't seem to really care about possession. It comes naturally, but they don't knock the ball around the shell all day. They attack the box and make quick runs and aggressive passes. We have a team full of players looking at someone else to do those things.
