Was a solid performance IMO. Not pretty and the lack of quality finishing gave us another nail-biter, sure, but no obvious horrible play and boners that we've seen in our first 2 matches.
Mistakes? Sure. But a clean sheet is a clean sheet.

Robertson looked pretty good overall IMO.

I don't think I can blame Gomez on that Benteke chance. He was trying to mark 2 players.

Whoever mentioned upthread about moving Firmino back into the "Coutinho" spot in midfield and putting Solanke up front, thats not a bad idea. We are in DIRE need of some creativity in midfield.
And, as a follow-up to that, frick YOU Phil.

I'll take it. The performance was about what I expected, especially being sandwiched between two CL qualifiers. Haven't beaten Palace at Anfield since 2013. I'm just happy to get the 3 points
Arsenal next weekend will be difficult.

Also within the span of 7 days, Mane has played 270 minutes.

That was me. It was pretty clear Bobby dominated the middle and allowed Mane and Salah to do their thing on the wings.
In Phil news, Barcelona have apparently told FSG "take the offer now or we pull it off the table".
You read that right... We rejected their offer, and they came back with "take it or leave it".

I didn't think it was possible for another club to have more inept transfer dealings than us, but here we are

Barcelona’s response to having a third bid of up to £118million rejected for Philippe Coutinho was to make contact with Liverpool again on Friday and impose one of the transfer market’s more bizarre deadlines.
The Catalan club, in all their wisdom, informed Anfield officials that they have until Sunday evening to change their mind, and belatedly accept the offer, or it will be withdrawn.
In other words, a bid Liverpool have twice told Barcelona not to make is instantly rebuffed and their rivals’ next move is to threaten to take it off the table.
Finally in this saga, the Camp Nou club has managed to do something which served as a source of amusement for Liverpool’s power brokers.

We just need to soldier through these next two matches, into the int'l break... I don't worry as much this early in the season, though Mane is coming off an injury...
Hopefully, after that... we'll have a little more depth (fingers crossed) and a couple of weeks rest...

Kinda hoping we keep Robertson and Klavan on for Wednesday's match in place of Moreno and Lovren.

Klavan
Had Benteke not somehow missed that chance today, it would have been 100% on Klavan. Let's not pretend that Klavan is the better option right now.

Starting to see rumors that we are hard after Draxler, some even saying that we are favorites to sign him over Arsenal.

Lovren has multiple incidents like that per game. So sorry if you've missed them thus far.
With that in consideration, until proven differently, yes I can "pretend" at this point that "Klavan is the better option right now".

Klavan had a good game outside of that one mistake. Lovren has good games here and there too. They're both susceptible to mistakes leading to chances.

You're not wrong, I'm just going by what I've observed of their form in the first 3 matches.
And what it really comes down to is this: Lovren constantly makes attempts at lunging tackles and goes to ground at the worst times whereas my observation is that Klavan doesn't.
Now that may be as simple as the fact that Lovren had Moreno to his left and Klavan had Robertson. Still, going to ground and surrendering any further opportunity for defending with it is a choice and Lovren CHOOSES that a lot.
