I think the main reason why we like the British announcers so much because soccer is all they do.

Ian Darke has also done boxing.

"They've thrown the cat amongst the pigeons" is probably my favorite.

I don't even know what that means but I love it.

My favorite is, "Oh he's really made a meal of that one," when a guy gets fouled softly but acts like it was way worse.

I like the scenario when Netherlands and Chile won their 1st two games while Australia and Spain lost theirs.

In the final match between Australia and Spain with nothing on the line the British announcer would say "playing for the wooden spoon"

When I say kit instead of jersey

Honestly not meaning to offend you and I doubt you even care what I think, but this gets on my nerves to no end. Kit, pitch, fit, all of them. One of my biggest pet peeves.

I think most people so that as a snob move but I call just the shirt a jersey and a full uniform a kit. But I mean like they call their schedule fixtures. But if someone calls it a field, jersey, game, or whatever, it's not like I think they know less about soccer it's just what they call it. We didn't invent it so the terms are a little different and if you watch enough games and soccer shows you get accustomed to using these terms instead what may be more American.

Yeah, that makes sense. It's noticeable when someone is going out of their way to fit in every single British soccer buzz word into a conversation.

I tried watching the MLS game tonight, announcers ruin it. You go from the brilliance of the world cup to shitty American announcers.

How many chapters will unfold?

JP DellaCamera is not bad at all. He's paid his dues and then some. He was ESPN's only soccer guy all through the 1990s, he'd do Champions' League until they picked up the English broadcasts, he did weekly shows about the leagues in Brazil, he would do the world-wide wrap-up, all kinds of stuff.

Frankly, he deserves better from ESPN. But I wouldn't take him over Mr. Darke, or Mr. Tyler or Champion. But he is a knowledgeable American announcer.

Agree on Dellacamera. He's probably the best we got.
