Hopefully, the transfer committee will treat this summer like we sold him... Obviously, no one can replace him talent wise, but we can bring in people to pick up the slack... More pressure on Studge to be the main man... I have faith!

Don't have all the info but Smyth said the way he read the rules he would likely be able to play against Colombia if he appeals. No idea if that's true but that is what the message was

I posted about it in the thread below

its pretty shameful and proves he thinks he did nothing wrong

World governing body Fifa have imposed a four-month world footballing ban on Uruguay striker Luis Suarez for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.
The independent disciplinary committee imposed the suspension after finding the 27-year-old guilty of misconduct.
Suarez has also been banned for nine international matches, ruling him out of the rest of the World Cup.

Thats all I can find so far

Damn ok. Would he be out by the quarters if he loses the appeal?

I wouldn't be to sure on that it just yet

meaning what, he appeals and pushes it back a couple of days?

or we sell him? Which, I don't see likely now, due to no one wanting to buy him for this season... But if we do, that'd be fine too..

Meh. An appeal is pretty standard. He's doing what he has to for his country.

Well that answers 1 of my questions and why the 4 months and 9 games are separate.

I hope LFC appeals, if they can... It is in the club's best interest to try..

That said, no one is bigger than the club... I have faith that we can still have a great season!

SUAREZ BANNED FOR FOUR MONTHS
Massive news for his country and of course for Liverpool as well. Pending any appeal, which will not stop him being banned from Uruguay's next World Cup game anyway, Luis Suarez will not be available for Premier League action until the end of October. His ban applies to all football activity - training with his team, going to the stadium, etc etc. In case you have been asleep for the last few days, this stems from the third biting incident of his career - he has clearly been found guilty of sinking his gnashers into Italy's Giorgio Chiellini in Tuesday's clash which put Uruguay into the knockout stage.

Goes directly against what Smyth said earlier, but who knows. It is interpreting a rule so there are multiple ways to interpret based on where a comma is

Hardly... though it will be a challenge, we were in first place when he returned from his 6 match ban last season... that was only a month before into the season.. I think we proved we weren't a one man team. Went on a nice win streak even when Luis went on his goal drought..

Again, I'll wait and see who we bring in this summer. If rumors that Alexis and Shaqiri are true, our attack will be fine (still need to work on defense)..

I understand FIFA governs everything, but it would be stupid to cause harm to a team that he wasn't even playing for at the time of the incident

He carried the team after that initial surge or you would have not finished 2nd. You dont have the tested UCL quality yet. Think about it every game from mid august to basically november. He pretty much cost you any major glory this year.

Collateral damage. You have to punish him, LFC be damned.

Not so sure why it would be goodbye season. He was out last year until late September. Based on last years schedule, it would only be 4 additional PL games.

Don't think it will matter though. I don't expect him to be back.

ETA: Looks like he would miss these fixtures.
Southampton - Aug 16
Man City - Aug 23
Tottenham - Aug 30
Aston Villa - September 13
West Ham - September 20
Everton - September 27
West Brom - October 4
QPR - October 18
Hull - October 25

The first match of this suspension is to be served in the upcoming FIFA World Cup™ fixture between Colombia and Uruguay on 28 June 2014. · The player Luis Suárez is ordered to pay a fine in the amount of CHF 100,000.

The decision was notified to the player and the Uruguayan FA today.

“Such behaviour cannot be tolerated on any football pitch, and in particular not at a FIFA World Cup when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on the field. The Disciplinary Committee took into account all the factors of the case and the degree of Mr Suárez’s guilt in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Code. The decision comes into force as soon it is communicated,” said Claudio Sulser, chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee
