ESPN3 was shitting out on me. The only action I saw was Pepe win the ball from Iniesta with a rough challenge then Iniesta tried to shove Pepe and got an elbow in the face for his trouble.

Cesc tweeting a pic of himself with the trophy reminded me that I need to unfollow him on Twitter.

What, you won't miss his trio of Catalan-Spanish-English tweets about what he's watching on tv?

I mean, obviously I will. I'm still pissed he didn't take my film recommendation of Volver. Should have unfollowed then.

I missed out on this thread, I got in a wreck today.

However, I will comment that once again Barça has proven to be the superior side. Messi is the best damn player there is, right now. I don't care what anyone has to say.

BTW, though I dislike Madrid, I'll say that that there is a couple players that they have that I can't say that I dislike. Marcelo, is not one of them. He simply is a piece of shite.

ETA: I don't "like" any of them, some have earned my respect over time though. None, earned the respect while wearing that damn club jersey though.

Messi is amazing.

Real won't win La Liga while he and Xavi are at Barca. No matter what Mourinho does.

You damn right about that. Real doesn't have the squad to hang with Messi. The Real fans know this, or they should, by now.

You didn't watch the game yet you can somehow opine that Barca has "once again proven to be the superior side"? Outstanding analysis there, Sherlock.

And even if you did watch it, you're clearly watching through rose-colored glasses. Today's game was pretty evenly played, but the game in Madrid on Sunday was dominated by Real despite the final score - even many Barcelona bloggers and beat writers admitted such. Look at the stats if you don't believe me. (And yes, I know some Barca players did not play in the first half that day, but the fact that they had 0 shots in the second half is pretty telling as well.)

Lol. Real will win at least one of La Liga or the Champions League this year. Mark it down.

Know what I did today, brah?
Let me guess, because I was not in the thread "in-game" that would mean that I wouldn't have had access to the game in any way, shape, or form?

You're waffling on your claim.

Yes, I do. Everyone who is a fan does to some degree.

quote:

The final score is what matters when all is said and done.

Cecil doesn't care. A team plays poorly for a half, and doesn't lose, what does that say about the other side?

quote:

Look at the stats if you don't believe me.

I've seen them, and it's history to me. But let me ask, who possessed the ball more? Who committed more fouls? Who was offsides more? Who took more corners? If anything, the stats would point to an inefficient RM side. The ability to take advantage of your opponents times of weakness is a poor reflection of your teams character.

Sorry, brah, you're ignoring the fact that your team is second. Don't worry though, they may have a better squad next year.

Like I said, there are a few that I respect, but I don't like their team. You may not like my team either, but that's the beauty of any sport.

You said you were in a wreck. I inferred that you didn't have access to the game because of that - no waffling at all (in fact, it was a reasonable assumption to make based on what you said).

Who cares who posessed the ball more? Germany had ridiculously small time of possession against Argentina and England in the World Cup last year and destroyed both of them - that's just how Barca plays. Also, LOL at your "offsides" and "corners" comment. I was talking about shots and shots on goal.

As for them playing poorly for a half and not losing, I'd say it says they were lucky. I've seen plenty of teams get completely dominated in a game and still end up winning (think Spain vs Switzerland last summer). Sometimes the breaks just go your way, and that seems to have happened a lot lately with Barca. That doesn't take anything away from what's been accomplished, but it doesn't go unnoticed either.

I see what you mean.

As I said in the aforementioned post, stats really don't matter to me much at all, I was actually just bringing up statistics up in response to you saying,"look at the stats". Not to sound bad in a parallel referencing to something so serious, but it doesn't matter who wins the battle(stat sheet), it matters who won the war(game).

I understand this. I follow the old saying,"luck is when preparation meets opportunity", when it comes to sports and that is just a part of the game.

It's not uncommon for every team to have a bad stretch. RM could have taken advantage of them when they were down, but that didn't happen. Just as you will defend your team, I'll defend mine. Again, I don't like some RM players(Marcelo), but I have respect for some(Ozil,Sergio Ramos,Casillas,Kaka). Fortunately, for you and I, they will have many more matches to come.

i think that's silly to say honestly bhoy. i think these past few days proved that. a season is a long time and it's not just going to come down to the clasicos on who wins la liga. besides the shite show at the end of the match i am reasonably pleased with how the boys played yesterday. i loved the first 20 minutes, though am not surprised iniesta nailed us on the counter.
as to the mou comments...though i don't like some of his antics, i also LOVE the way he pisses off barca and their fans.

I'm fairly certain that Barcelona's backup keeper is going to shank someone in a scuffle at some point.

hey, don't stereotype murderers like that, some of us--ahem, them--some of them take great joy and other outpourings of bottled emotion in their homicidal habits.

Oh man, I love soccer! Anyone who says soccer is boring is an idiot. Football is my number 1, but soccer is a close second, that game yesterday was just so intense. What a beautiful game.

I really don't think the diving is as bad from Barca as people say it is, but maybe thats because Messi makes up for it by not diving at all. He muscles through so many hard tackles that others would fall from, and I think thats why he scores so much. Defenders sometimes look like they expect him to fall and then there he is just him and the keeper. He's unbelievable. His skill is unmatched.
