So by the time the World Cup in Qatar kicks off, the death toll could be as high as 7,000 people. That's 2 9/11s. How can we as decent people participate in this, especially after getting royally fricked out of something we could host with 0 casualties next month?

And also how isn't everyone who voted for this on trial and not thrown as punishment from atop these stadiums and killed? They should be killed for this level of corruption that leads to the deaths of 3000-7000 people. That is a crime against humanity.

So if that's not going to happen and it's not going to be transferred to a country with any sense of moral decency, shouldn't we and every other country with Western values boycott the World Cup in 2022? I see no reason we should participate or broadcast it in our country with these sickening human rights abuses.

And let's not forget that these assholes who should be wipped off the planet have been cut off by Saudi fricking Arabia for supporting terrorism. Saudi. fricking. Arabia. They apparently support terrorism to such a degree that the Saudis are offended that Qatar is on their turf.

Give me one reason why we should participate in this bullshite.

Because the world doesn't care.

Because the Qataris have a lot of money and the world doesn't care.

Us and Europe should boycott. But we never will. And FIFA grows more powerful while counting their money...

I want East Asia in on this as well. This inexcusable.

I also want all networks to refuse to broadcast it and all US companies to refuse to sponser it.

Once again, if anyone actually cared about human rights, they would. But this isn't getting enough press, so all the big companies will just sponsor the world cup and cash in on that.

I mean, when was the last time a major network carried any of the news about this world cup?

I honestly couldn't attend that World Cup and not feel like a total piece of human garbage. I'd be giving money to people who basically killed thousands of slaves.

The only hope we have is that the region breaks out into a large scale war which would make holding the event there unsafe. Which is a real possibility.

With how companies are trying to control free speech now, if they sponsor that cup, there shouldn't be protests in front of Coca Cola's headquarters. No, there should be riots where they burn the place to the ground.

It would be saying this: Bill O'Reilly hitting on his intern: unacceptable. Murdering 7,000 people to watch men kick a ball up and down a field: acceptable.

And by the way, Budweiser and Coke should have already told them that they will refuse to sponsor it. Bunch of fricking money grubbing pussies.

The best part of the wikileaks, was that Bill Clinton, who was supposed to be the head guy(face of bid) in bringing the World Cup to USA in 22, was actually being paid by Qatar at the same time. And yet USA went from favorites to Qatar winning.

Yes. 16 teams.
North America
South America
Europe
Australia / Japan / New Zealand

I guarantee that tournament would get more viewership and sponsor money. It would create real change

Here's what I want: Australia to announce their own World Cup occurring at the exact time as the Qatar World Cup. Just exclude Africa and the Middle East from being invited. Everyone else, you're invited. Give a special event to India on their citizens being enslaved and killed by Qatar.

That's what I want. That's how it should go. Disgrace FIFA, hold it in a country that would be fun and have good weather, and emphasize human rights with it.

Would be totally in favor of this and it should happen. You would think with the had of US Soccer being an Indian he would have a pretty big problem with this, but I guess not enough to override the almighty $

I don't want us to boycott for the sake of the athletes. One of our family friends was the favorite for the men's 10K in Moscow. He ended up being a 3x Olympian, but he never won gold as 1980 was his peak fitness.

Have yourself an upvote.

It will be one of the lowest attended World Cups of all time from people outside of Qatar. It's so pathetically sad we care about money and pride so much.

Did we not boycott the Olympics in 1980? Don't tell me this cannot be done. You tell FIFA tomorrow that England, USA, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, France, Germany, Spain aren't attending the World Cup and see what happens. I will assure you that within 2 weeks they hold it somewhere else.

I posed this exact scenario when Russia and Qatar were awarded the 2018/22 Cups. I was pretty much laughed out of here.

It's not the 40-50 big countries(Spain, France, Brazil) that give FIFA its power, it's the 100+ smaller countries(Trinidad & Tobago, Eritrea, Mexico) that do.

I would love to see FIFA dismantled
