Juve fans aren't shocked.

Pogba was insanely overrated. Last season he was very meh.

I mean, Pogba was very good today. He's not the same sort of player as Yaya, and the comparisons aren't valid.

Yeah. I mean he's young and really good, but I don't get the hype. He'd start for almost any team in the world, but I don't think he'll ever seriously contend for the Ballon D'or or anything like that. He's a very selfish player on the ball, which is fine if you're as good as Messi or Ronaldo, but he's not.

I'm feeling really good about my Zlatan and Pogba predictions now.

Pogba is a fantastic player, but what he is super good at is something people don't notice. He can link the attack super well but he isn't going to deliver many final balls or score that many goals. I think he's at his best in a deeper role, but also flanked by other midfielders so as to ensure he doesn't waste too much energy with defensive work.

Pogba is a fantastic talent IMO, but he still goes missing way too much...

I'm sure he'll end up making good at United and being a very good/great player, but I doubt he'll ever justify his price tag in most people's mind... and to be honest, that will always be the measuring stick (to most)

That said, I don't think many would justify that..

None would, but we need to stop thinking in terms of price. The prices are fricking crazy and are just indicative of a seller's market.

Pogba has to be in the right set up. Finally Man U paired him with Herrera and Carrick and he pretty much owned Arsenal's midfield. But again he isn't the type of player to score ten goals a season. He probably never will be. He's like the second coming of Vieira, not Toure, but I don't think he plays his game like Vieira either. He's more technical, better with the ball at his feet, a better passer as well. I think he's his own type of player.

I know what you're saying... I still think he's still too much of an individual and not so much a team player... right now..

Definitely. He has to be protected as well. He also needs a player to play the ball between the lines to him.

He's a weird player too. You would think a player with his skill set and physical ability would look to run into spaces like Yaya. Pogba seems enamored by his own technical ability at times. I wish he would simplify the game and be direct. There is actually a coach who could teach him that sort of game, Carlo Ancelotti, not Mourinho.

you spend £100+ mil on a midfielder, idc who you are, you aren't going to be excited about the return thus far.

Like someone else said, I think he'll end up being a good player, but he'll never live up to price. But it's United, so they can YOLO shite like that.

He can't ever live up to that price. I can ignore it because watching him I realized he was amazing, but he just isn't that type of player. He can maybe be molded into that player by the right coach, but right now he's a B2B/DLP player who leans towards being more attack minded. I actually think he could be an utterly amazing DLP. If United had run with him in 2011 they would have avoided a shite ton of midfield linking issues.

i just think pogba is always going to be an "if" guy

"if this happened"

"if he was allowed this role"

"if he got this coach"

"if he was in this system"

etc

he's still primarily a "potential" guy and he's getting older and regressing as he does. that window is closing

*ETA: i'm talking in terms of being an elite/star player. he's already a solid guy

Nah. I think teams want him to run the field and use his athleticism. He wants to have the ball to feet and see the game head on. He's actually amazing at the latter. But he's not someone who will give you a final ball, nor is he someone who will score a lot of goals. He will help move the ball in a possession team and he will contribute defensively. It's not his fault that Man U wanted to pay over the odds for him.
