Per a whistleblower

It's about damn time too. This World Cup controversy has to be the single biggest travesty in the history of sports, with an estimated 4,000 people being dead by 2022 getting it ready for the event. That's higher than 9/11 and the most deadly construction project in the Middle East since building the fricking pyramids.

Blatter stepping down isn't good enough, and we should put all of the people who voted for Qatar on trial for corruption and crimes against humanity. We do a quick trial, and then give them the option between putting a bullet between their eyes or being sold into slave labor to work on Middle Eastern construction projects and see how they like it.

If this is accurate, then I don't see how we're not going to be the new hosts. We already have the stadiums, world class airports, and cities with tons of hotel rooms and could host the World Cup next month if it came down to it. Not one person will die if we host the World Cup.

So what are y'all's thoughts?

Sucks for those who lost their lives. All because of the corrupt officials in charge. At least no one else will have the same happen to them, should this actually happen.

So what will Qatar do with the stadiums they are building if they get stripped as host?

This is why Qatar needs to keep the 2022 WC. But , we need to make sure stuff like this never happens again.

Despite the corruption, you can't strip it from the country. Make the country hold those accountable if they used corruption but too much time and money has been invested in that country. Horrible decision, IMO.

The same thing they were going to do with them after the World Cup: collect dust and sand.

Daily Mail as a source is questionable at best. They aren't as shady as the Washington Times or National Examiner, but questionable just the same.

That being said, I'll believe it when I see it.

The USA and England have been the driving forces behind the FIFA corruption charges coming to light. I think it would make sense for Australia to be the host of 2022. 2026 should come here.

That country bribed officials and has supported modern day slavery. My only concern with this is getting the people they imported and haven't paid back to their families. I think the U.S. as a sign of good will should get these workers back to their families and give them the fare wage they were promised.

Qatar can go frick itself. It's a dry country, temperatures often go into the 110+ degree range, and they've been partaking in slave labor. No one but Qatar, Saudi Royals, and FIFA officials want the World Cup in Qatar. The U.S. could host it next month with few issues.

Take Qatar's national team auto qualification away. Make them qualify for the World Cup.

Sure you can. It's not getting stripped because they're a small country with high heat in the summer.

The reason it will get stripped will be because of the corruption charges but the reason it NEEDS to be stripped is because of the astronomically high number of enslaved migrant workers that have died and will continue to die in the building of those stadiums.

Seems like a questionable source, but it needs to happen. It sucks that so many slave workers would have ultimately died for nothing, but Qatar will not make any changes to prevent even more from dying. It's a human rights issue at this point.
