I didnt want Mexico to get a single point. USA fan 1st and foremost and they are our hated rivals. And, Im a big Croatia fan. Now, Croatia has to get 3points against both Cameroon and Mexico and make up the goal difference.

I only care about the US team, not concerned with Mexico or anyone else. Outside of watching the US play, I only hope for good games. Sounds corny, but I generally tend to gravitate towards pulling for whatever team is fighting harder and looks like they want it more.

Saying that you must hate Mexico to be a real American fan is silly. They are a rival, but I don't care enough about them to hate them. Unless we are playing them, they're not on on my radar. Not saying that my line of thinking is necessarily the right one. Hate who you want.

This

A lot of guys on here want this sport to grow and gain more fans, but when they find out a casual soccer fan rooted for what seemed to be like an underdog (which is a natural instinct in sports) they want to chew their arse out and accuse them of not being a real fan.

Better than telling you to go to the Azteca by yourself to catch a match. You're welcome. It's Murica or Mexico boys. Choose.

Let's be honest, there is a lot of trumped up hate for Mexico because US soccer fans want a rivalry so they can mimic our European and South American counterparts. It's a little forced. Doesn't mean we shouldn't hate them, but most of the people claiming to hate them have no first hand experience.

It's not forced at all. In terms of international soccer, US/Mexico is one of the best.

Maybe for you. My choice was made. It wasn't an either/or choice because Mexico wasn't an option.

I think it is a genuine rivalry, but there are a lot of USMNT fans who have psyched themselves into it. There are tons of relatively new soccer fans in the US, so this is pretty natural. I don't want to call them bandwagon fans, but the fact that we're a big country where soccer isn't prominent results in a lot of our "fan base" being pretty detached from the team itself.

Kinda like a diehard Bama fan in New England who has never been to an Iron Bowl or lived around Auburn fans but picks up hatred via YouTube videos and second hand accounts. That's what I mean by forced.

Yeah, riot cops guarding fans as they are led to a cage so they don't get maimed is really forced. GTFO. Both fan bases hate each other.

It's not forced at all.

Mexico hates us just as much.

Landon Donovan is literally one of the most hated men in Mexico.

There is nothing redeeming about Mexican soccer.

Their team is dirty and plays like thugs and drama queens.

Their fans are hostile, violent, and throw batteries at players.

Their stadium is a prison riot.

They are the worst.

As an Argentina fan, I always root for Brazil to lose, no matter who the opponent is.

You should probably share the method you used to get really angry with Mexico so the non-haters can get to your level.
