I was in college, home for the summer, working mornings at a summer sports camp for kids. Probably 200-250 people total in a very open building about the size of five or six basketball gyms. TVs always had sports on.

Anyway, I made sure everyone in that building knew not to tell me the score. I stayed away from the TVs, and nobody spoiled the game. A few kids tried to mess with me, "Oh, we lost" or "oh, we won" but no one, miraculously, was a dick.

Raced home after work and watched on the DVR. My mom said she didn't know the result, but I noticed late in the game she was watching me. I honestly thought we had lost, because my mom takes joy in her children losing their shite over "trivial" things.

When Donovan scored, I lost my shite. Ran around the house like a crazy person.

Cool story, bro, I know, but it's one of those iconic sports memories I'll never forget. I remember that day like it was yesterday, and I have a shitty memory.

Tim Howard's distribution set that all up.

And, hey look! It's Benny Feilhaber!

Man, I loved that team.

Man I was in court that day sitting in the back row watching the game tracker on ESPN.com and it took everything inside me to not get up and start cheering in the courtroom

The two goal comeback vs. Slovenia was great as well. The 2nd goal and celebration was epic.

Only to be foiled by that African referee...

Was on a mission trip that summer. We were cleaning out a hoarder's house (like a legit hoarder you'd see on the TV show). We were all checking our phones. Thought we were out when it got to stoppage time. Then the update came in that Donovan scored and we went nuts.

Probably what I like even more than the goal itself was Darke's call. That was such a brilliant sports call.
